Going to San Francisco on Dec 26

Steve and I look forward to meeting all who can attend.

Ray PA said it well: "Beer and Gear" for sure.

Mike: Looks like I better bring some Nikon gear to help balance things out. I'll dust off my S2 as well, seeing as DAG went through it recently.

Anything else within walking distance that is worth photographing?
Not sure if it's a walking distance, but the haight street is pretty interesting.

Warning: Mike forced me to look through his S2's viewfinder the last time I was at a "gear and beer" meet, and I was almost blinded from the experience :D

Too bad about the timing on this one, I have to work that day too. :bang:

You know, just because we had to break up the brawl you started last time, you shouldn't keep resenting us. And you know you want to look through the S2 viewfinder. Don't worry, all the cool kids are doing it. It'll be okay. Just have a little taste.......

Well Honus, you know your weekly Trix-xTol 101 course is not cheap, and I'm also planning on taking your 'how to become a Painter of Tones' course in January. I hear the tuition is double the Trix-xTol course! :) (Also, the wife is getting a Martin guitar for xmas. More going on the block soon...)

Papercut, I'll be happy to give you a ride in Tuesday. The good news is I have a wooden leg, and the in-car breathalyzer (mandated by the judge in my last case) should prevent anything bad from happening. I haven't had a chance to hack it.

Solares,

I might have some time to photograph with you either early monday morning or monday afternoon. There is a lot to photograph in the Bay Area. If I want to meet in the morning the best place to photograph is probably Chinatown, if you want to meet in the afternoon I would recommend getting out of the city and going across the GG Bridge to Mount Tam, Muir woods--if you like landscape type photography. Let me know, I would be happy to show you around.

Mike and the rest of the gang, I would like to meet you guys as well. I read through the thread quickly, and couldn't really figure out what time on Tuesday or where you guys are going to meet, let me know, and I can probably meet you at some point.

Vince, if you are reading this, maybe you can come out too?

Alright, Tuesday Dec 30, 10 AM, Ferry Building. Are those the coordinates?

Sisyphus, I am potentially available on Monday, unless my better half has scheduled some kind of meal with the rest of my academic bunch. I'd like to go to Chinatown. I'd like to cover a lot of the city... but haven't had much time to plan. If my hotel has truly free access to wireless web, I'll send you a PM or an e-mail.

BTW, for practical purposes, my e-mail is <franciscosl at yahoo dot com>

Also, I have a cell phone now... and a very good reason to celebrate: we'll be three (not counting the cats) in May next year. :)

Francisco -- Hey hey! Congrats on the news!!

Ray suggested a backup plan meeting place, but I'd still prefer to meet at the Ferry Building and then head toward SFMOMA/Metreon if folks would like. Does that work? If Ferry Buildling (Plan A) a serious inconvenience, though, by all means let's go w/ Plan B. Around 10:00 am on Tuesday. Deal?

Bah Humbug. I'm in New York until New Years.
Would of loved to grab a beer with you guys. (I just turned 21 on the 23rd so it's kosher now!) Hah!

Thanks Steve!

Yeah. I got a ride home from a kind uniformed friend at 4 oclock christmas morning so I'm lying low for a little bit.

I just notice this now that I'm down by Paso Robles for the 26th through the new year...sigh.

Heh Not a chance we'll make it too that long. ;)

and thanks!
I'm thinking this January as well we should have a Bay Area get together.

It's only an inconvenience for me if the weather gets ugly (reason for plan b), because I'll be walking from the parking garage on 4th & Mission. However, I saw the 7-day forecast (for whatever value can be put into it) and Tuesday is looking to be sunny and warm(er). So, the Ferry building is fine. I'll just shoot on my way down to the Ferry building. I might be a little late if the light is good! :)

Guys (and Gals if any are joining) -- It's been suggested that we gather in front of the Scharfenberger chocolate kiosk at the Ferry Building on Tuesday, around 10:00 am. That works for me. Taylor's Refresher (suggested by Kent) is not far away in any event.

See you there!!
