Going to Sell my M3 and M2...

I understand, it's like juggling a lot of girlfriends at once---they all want your attention. Not that this is something I'm used too . . .

Funny, I have been kind of thinking about doing a similar thing. More like a Mp or M7 and only a few lenses. I think it is this urge to simplify. So far I have been resisting quite well though. I also have m2 and m3 bodies, which have both had recent cla's, and about 12 lenses. I think I will always keep the 90 Elmar, but with the rest I could finance a lux, and I have been thinking about switching to colour.
But then I think about the amount of time I waited for the right dr cron with late serial # coating, and the shot I have taken with each lens, and then I change my mind.

Dave: I am looking for a second Leica M body, and while I am hoping to get a model with a built-in meter, the M3 is my favorite.

How did the upgrade work out for you?

it is a hard thing having more than one m-body, so many choices. guilt for using one or two and ignoring the rest. but it is also hard to consider parting with them. i was going to sell my m6 but when i told my wife, she wouldn't let me sell it. so i had dag cla and upgrade the vf, now its good for another 20+ years... i've decided that my cameras will get passed down to family members when/if they become interested in making pictures.

I'm considering it for my .85 TTL body. Either that, or trade up to an MP 0.85. I find my M2 Viewfinder just as bright if not more so than the TTL. I use the 0.85 with a 75 'lux and like to shoot in night clubs so focusing can be problem.

I hope you can keep your Leicas Dave. Don't know what to say except I have stuff that I don't use that much, but its a time thing. I want to use them. I like to use them. I'm glad I have them. I have pictures they took and know I will have more.
I wanted to take pictures at a three day event this summer. I took a different camera each day. I really wanted to get out there and show off the M3. There aren't many around here. The day I took it was a pretty severe dust storm. I couldn't bear to take it out of the bag. I ended up with several hours of camera cleanup, just from what blew in past the camera bag seals. I like to take pictures but I guess I like the gear more? 😱

While most of you think it's the M8... it's not.. I have no interest right now in a digital RF body. My digital needs are fulfilled with my 5D and 20D bodies; which are used only sparingly for my own personal enjoyment but rather used for regularly for weddings/portraits/events 😀

Cheers
Dave

Dave, I don`t know you or what your plans are,but be very sure of your decision. About 30yrs. ago I foolishly got rid of two of my surfboards, and I have regreted it ever since. Apart from them being great boards to ride they are now worth a considerable amount, IF ONLY. Leicas are not cars or bikes, they take up very little space, they don`t leak oil or need to be registered. But they do appreciate. What price a Cosina clone in 30yrs. time?

Everyone is looking at the m8
M8? What M8? I don't know nuttin' about no M8. It's an illusion perpetrated by the liberal media and the cheez-whiz coallition that wants the price of film Leicas to go down so they can buy more and take stealth hipshots of celebrities to flood the yellow press market (i.e. The Sun, People) with photos of massdistraction.

Don't give in, Dave: fight the power!

Larger, louder and turns normal lenses into teles.
Actually I don't believe how Leica could make such a thing.
