Gold Leica????

Hello,

the gold "leica" has typical aspects from a converted Zorki. The lens is an Industar-22 (aperture ring) ... the speed select button looks very KMZ-ish...

just my opinion on it 🙂
Cheers... still it looks okay.

I was just pointing out the sad truth 😀

Some russian sellers have wonderful equipment available, amongside with "Leica vintage copy wehrmacht/luftwaffe/panzer" etc... the classic stuff 🙂

At least the guy seems honest and says he doesn't know. I'm no way a Leica expert but I agree it doesn't look / feel right for the genuine article 😀

I don't think it is either. Leica has done some gaudy things, but I don't think this is one of them. The engraving on the camera itself is either poorly done or the person who did it was tired that day...it doesn't look authentic to me.

Then again...me not Leica expert, yadda yadda yadda.

I think Leica did in fact make a few anniversary models with gold plating. The Germans are given to unexpected excess.

Yes the seller is honest! the NR states it clearly I think.

What are my criteria ?

In fact, you can notice that there is a black metallic shape around the lens mount that is typical from cameras made by KMZ, also the VF window (rectangular one) is not shaped like it should be on a Leica. Finally, the speed select button feel really cheap, KMZish, same you can find on whatever KMZ camera and even on Zenit 🙂

Regarding the lens, the I-22 base circular area has 2 "rings" engraved on it, the I-22 also uses a ring to rotate the blades instead of the little switch on real Elmar lenses.

Ah well... 😉

Maybe i'm just addicted to the forum that's why I bother 😛

My latest pet is a 1950s Fed 2B and still waiting for the nice chrome and brass I-50 to drop through my door. Come to me my precious 😀

Thank you Poptart ... I think 😛

chrome and brass I-50 ? You'll have to post it! I cleaned my I-50 and it operates perfectly and smoothly.

Arent those FED-2B like the FED-3B kind of ? or i'm mistaking.. *checks this up on google*
I like how the 3A looks 😉

Very interesting regarding the I-50... I knew that I-50 use the same tessar-type design as the I-22, but I didn't knew up to know that collapsible I-50 did exist... and this one is quite lovely!

For the FED-2, I'm not a big fan of it's design, but maybe I just need to handle one to get this out of my mind! Anyway... this month it's clear for me, minimum a Minolta Hi-matic, a FED NKVD and maybe a Moskva-5 as reward *giggles* I don't get stuff on eBay, I can find them in regular shops and test them straight here in prague! 🙂

It's the first I-50 I've seen like that so I was determined to score it. The lens that came with the camera is in a poor state but I already had a J-8 to use with it.

Location is very important and not just in the housing market LOL

In the UK I have to be careful where I buy from otherwise I get stung for import duties that can be more than the kit is worth.

In some ways I'm envious of you as all my best models have been from FSU countries. They have a wonderful attitude to being photographed and getting the pictures I'm after. They also seem to have a very distinctive look that is very camera friendly 😉
