nice brookie, Brad! glad to see the Kiev is working out for you.. what fly did you take the trout with?

Nothing prettier (or better tasting) than a speckled trout......saw a show on TV the other day about a guy going after HUGE speckles in Labrador, some were in the 7-8lb range! ( I think the world record for speckled/brook trout is only about 11lbs or so.) The males had high backs and hooked noses, almost like a salmon, their bellies were flourescent orange, and their backs were dark green with millions of multi-coloured dots. Just about the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

I've read a few stories about the Labrador brookies.. their AVERAGE size is 2.5 pounds.. apparently the people fishing those waters are disappointed when they catch one that's 'only' 3-4 pounds

Spoiled brats! But there's nothing more fun than flyfishing little streams for them, or even using a '0' Mepp on light line. In the larger streams in Ontario the browns seem to take over, you have to fish the little feeder streams to get the brookies.

Hey Brett,
Got it on a light cahill. We have hundreds of miles of small brook trout streams here in Potter County, PA! Most of them hold brookies, not big ones, but if you catch one over 12" that is considered big!

The Kiev has been working great when I get to use it.

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks Brett. I know her mom was pleased with the (nearly grainless) 11x14. The size, quality, and ergonomics really make the camera a joy to use.

Last post 2006 !!!!
Time for a revival:-

Þingvallavatn is a rift valley lake in southwestern Iceland. It is the largest natural lake in Iceland. At the northern shore of the lake, at Þingvellir Alþingi, the national parliament, was founded in the year 930.
This is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet.

OK - I'll go along with trawling up an old thread (as it were). My most recent decent fishing photo has been posted before in X Pro-1 thread, but I like it so here it is again:

There's more to fishing than fishing. It's a chance for a family picnic.

I've been spotted. After I told him I was taking a picture of his good looking dog he smiled with a true dog owners pride and thanked me.
