..........to all !

after lurking for some months on read-only I registered yesterday and in my understanding it is appropriate behaviour to say some words about the own person.

When I was young I made (most of my living) as a pro for some years, together with two friends: We had mostly private clients, kids, club events, interior design,
portrait, private erotic stuff , a kind of travelling circus, studio in the car boot, often shooting in the clients houses.
One day I got it all fed up, sold all gear , went to the University again and changed my profession later. This was before digital came up.
Since then I haven't done more than documenting my private life with several cameras I still own for private use, SLR and TLR stuff and some P&S, and since a year or so I own a Bessa R with a Nokton and a 75 Heliar. Very seldom , tho I hate it, I do my friends a favour and shoot birthdays and such kind PIA-stuff.
Sometimes also some sport club events, that's more fun.

O once had used a Leica M too but I had sold it together with the other stuff and recently I felt I should have such a small and light rangefinder thingy again.
And so I bought a used R and the lenses , with the option in my mind to buy a M model later if I should feel I need it. I still don't miss anything tho, this camera works fine, the lenses are superb, the whole set is the perfect solution for me.
I shoot all sort of films and develop my own B&W films .

As I noticed some folks have left the forum recently and some sound as if they would not be far from this decision, among those there were some whose contributions I will miss, their thoughts, their knowledge and their photos.
So I do hope I did not switch from read-only to registered exactly in the moment when all those are leaving who were the reason for my decision to switch on now the active communication. Would be a pity.

Regards,
fitzi

First, welcome to the forums. From your short bio I can see you should fit right in. I also hope not a lot of folks leave the forums, as I am sure I would miss their insights and posts as well. However, there will still be some whose opinions I value. Again, from your bio I think you are going to be a good contributor that I and others will look forward to hearing from.

Again, welcome.

Hi Fitzi,

While I am also "new" here I extend my greetings. I have had a similar "life-career!" I also know how important it is to share information, pix and experiences. BUT, I have never been associated with a group which has some "attachment" to any material thing in which there was agreement. Sometimes "manners" were ignored too, but RFF seems a rather diverse group of good folks. There will ALWAYS be someone to offer their opinion!

Jo

Dear Fitzi:

Welcome, glad to have you here 🙂 The departure of some of the valuable older members is very regrettable, as you noted. I hope some of them will return.

However, we are always being renewed with great new members, such as yourself, so welcome again!

Best,

Tom

Hey, welcome to the forum, have a virtual beer on me 😉 Your bio is similar to a few here, following a sabatical of a few years a return to taking photo's for pleasure and not always having to look for the next client to pay the bills is good for you.

As for bods leaving I must have missed it but as will all fora people join and after a while move on for varying reasons.

There are still some of us who dev and print the old wet way but can also appreciate the pixels. Oh and The R is a cracking camera, I have an R and use mine along with my M and have fun using them.

Once again welcome 🙂

Hi man

I too was surfing this site for a couple of years in read-only mode.. But now I have a rangefinder, hehe

I seldom speak for others, but I think others will agree:

Welcome!

Hi man

Welcome!

Netzspannung,

I should have known Fitzi does not sound female to all here automatically, I'better had mentioned it explictely tho it does not really play a role here. I am female.

Thanks to all for all the friendly welcome greetings !

Fitzi

Welcome to the team,
I too am a frequent "reader" and an infrequent "poster" and have found individuals very helpful and friendly.
I will (and i think others as well) will be looking forward to your opinions both due to your past life as a professional photographer as well as your insights/outlook female perspective. (10 to 1 ratio here?)

I'm alway looking to learn from other's thoughts on subjects.

Steve.

Welcome Fitzi, since I am relatively new here myself, I think its exciting to have new members joining to help keep RFF evolving. We may have lost some members but perhaps experienced photographers like yourself can help make up for the loss. Thanks for posting.

Hi Fitzi,
Why did I know you were a female? No matter, we're all here together to learn more. It's that elusive search for the individual eye. A Holy Grail of personal seeing I guess. I'm opposite of you, Leica bodies and mostly VC lenses. There is a difference in many ways but many of my best shots were with my Kiev and Jupiter 3 set "out of focus!" My best TLR has no slow speeds but the B&W I print amaze me. I must get images up sonmeplace. Now, figure out that scanner. Naw, back in the darkroom!
Best.
Jo
