Hi, All,
Just an FYI...
I purchased a black, plastic Grip Case from J.B. Camera Designs, for my new X100, and I'm quite happy with the product (fleaBay link below.)
At first, I was hesitant to throw a plastic case on a $1000 camera...but this case is small enough to be almost invisible in use, is molded to hug the camera close, exposes all controls and buttons and battery door, provides a better grip, and protects the camera finish from my grubby mitts!
Plus, the case is an American-made product at a reasonable price.

Wow, thanks. The idea of a plastic case kind of turned me off, but that looks smart and is functional. I dig it and might just give it a try. Incidentally I just got a Squinno leather half case for my x100. Not bad, it does add to the bulk a bit but it's handsomely made enough.

Thanks!
I also have a bunch of leather cases, some of which are kinda loose-fitting and thick and almost double the thickness of a camera. But this plastic one adds almost no bulk to the camera...except widening the base a bit, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Is this intended primarily to provide a stickier gripping surface texture? (It doesn't seem to actually protect much of the camera.)

I quite like those!
He has a site as well and I just voted for "others" I'd like to see.
Thanks!

You are absolutely right!
It doesn't protect as much of the camera as other half-cases I have seen. This is more of a "third-case".
However, it does provides a rougher grip than the more slippery X100 surface.
I also have a Zhou case on order, for more dressy events.

I have this case for my X10, and just ordered one for my X100. The surface of the case has a rough surface for added grip. I'm glad to hear of positive feedback of the X100 version!
