Hey Chicagoists,

I popped into Helix today to get some clearfile sheets. And while browsing, saw that they are selling off a bunch of discontinued Leica stuff. They have a new w/ Passport 35mm M-Summilux titanium (ASPH, I think) for like $1900. Pretty good deal, as far as Leica stuff goes.

In case anyone's in the market...

Its a Leica USA warranty as distinct from an International warranty (which comes with all the gray market cameras & lenses). It lasts for 3 years and can be extended to 5 years. It essentially means that the camera or lens will be serviced by Leica USA.

It's a sweet deal... Both, lens and warranty. In fact, the Passport is a bona fide deal: you buy the camera with it, brand new, and it can be repaired by Leica no matter what happens to it (whether you dropped it, or if the camera had an original problem). No questions asked: you send the camera or lens, tell them it's under Passport warranty, and you get it fixed.

To think I won't be going to town this weekend... :(

just sell your konica 35 francisco, that will help.

and if you skip a meal every other day, ride your bike to work, maybe get a second job...;)
