Good Luck to All with Hurricane Sandy!

it's bearing down on Philly, we are also right in the path.

Just rain at the moment, but most everything is cancelled for the next two days.

It's quiet - too quiet. ;-(

All around I hear generators in the distance. People cranking up their old ones, but many people have bought new ones. We don't have one. So we will lose power and septic, we're deep in the woods. But I've scrubbed our two chimneys and the wood is stacked and dry, so we'll be warm at least.

R-D1/ Summicron C, a couple hours ago (we'll call it the "before" picture)

Be careful all you on the East Coast...our son is in Quantico, VA and we talked with him on Saturday...not sure yet what's going to happen there and what it means for the upcoming week...

We live in a low lying area subject to an evacuation order.
Among many concerns I've had to make some hard choices
about what gear to take with me and what to leave behind.

Chris, so sorry - hope your left-behind gear stays dry (and your other possessions too!) Obviously, whatever you couldn't take, you stored as high as possible.

I really don't know what to think - here in Philly the rain has practically stopped. This is really unnerving.

The calm before the storm here. After this coffee I'm out to make one last check outside. Some record wind coming, I really do hope the very old oak tree across the road makes it through this. It's one of those 'people in the neighborhood' I'd miss.

Sandy meeting up with the snow storm might be real bad. I heard the storm will hit land just about the same time as high tide. be safe, and we pray for everyone's safety.

My parents home is in an evacuation zone, by just 7 houses. I went over and got them at 6am this morning. We are getting some heavy gusts and there is flooding along the ct shore now as the tide is high at the moment. The midnight tide will be worst.

Very windy here in Boston... trees shimmying about in some pretty strong gusts, and it's early yet.

Thinking of everyone close to the water... good luck down there.

I just returned from Boston, and I am lucky to have scheduled my trip days before the hurricane.

Raid, would love to have connected, as we did on your previous trip.

Boston is becoming dead quiet. Retail downtown is closing now. Wind picking up, and light rain mixing into the blow. Tough to keep a camera dry in this.

Good luck to you all. Fingers and toes crossed. Last winter we were on the tail end of a couple of your hurricanes, and even after crossing the atlantic they were bad enough.

It is getting serious. CNN just reported that a 180 foot long tall three-masted ship sank off of North Carolina. The Coast Guard rescued 14 people from it.

Heed the warnings, all!

Edit: It was HMS Bounty, a replica of the original Bounty, made for the movie, "Mutiny on the Bounty."

I was looking at the evacuation plans with the yellow marks , and I think i am a street away from it , because I am very close to a pier , 4-5 min walking distance.
