well, i don't think there was a post yesterday and i just couldn't have that happen again today!

thought i'd at least say hey, how you doin'?

i got another minolta 7s off ebay this week and one was delivered this week also.
so when the dust settles, i will have 3 of them. would have had 4 but i missed the last minute bidding cause i was at work and couldn't get to my computer in time.

now, if i would just get off this chair and move my lazy a** and go out and take some shots...well, ya know!

so, how are you guys?

😀

I'm doing ok ... sitting here drinking my coffee and checking my e-mail. Unfortunately, I have some work to do when I get fully awake. Would love to spend the day thinking, reading, and posting about cameras and photography, but that won't be possible. Life has this way of intruding on your avocations.

This board needs more activity!

Last evening I had some free time so I snuck into the darkroom and printed off a bunch of shots that I had been backlogged for months.

Will try to do some shooting today but it doesn't look promising.

Anyone have tips on how to clean negatives. A couple of pics had black spots on the negs that I couldn't remove. These are Tri-X and HP5 films.

good morning... or good night !

good morning... or good night !

its 2110 here, hehe...

a "busy" weekend for me. I'm busy with the process simulation exercise I must deliver next thursday. I had this practice assigned since more than a month ago but of course I only started last friday 🙂

This GPSS world simulator program is interesting though.

Apart from this nothing really interesting, I've left my vote on the catalonian government elections, and little more. I still keep my idea of leaving the Isolette I got off eBay in as good shape as I can... let's see if I can acomplish it... 🙄

And... still looking for a decent scanner. I paid a visit on friday evening to the most popular PC store zone in Barcelona and saw some things but I'm not still sure. From what I read, the Epson Perfection 3170 has the transparency unit (up to 6x9cm) built-in, when the lower model 2400 has only a 35 mm built in one.

I suppose I'll go for the 3170 for about 210 EUR, as the 2400 is 150 plus more than 100 for the transparency unit...

... and the 3200 is around 310 EUR... out of my budget right now...

Well, don't want to bother you innecessarily 😛, but photographically speaking, tomorrow I'm leaving for develope my second PAW roll, and I still have to scan the shots from the first one... sigh... 🙁

thanks for the replies gents!
my sunday has been quiet, cleaning up some paperwork, a little tv ( i like the sunday a.m. political shows) and now some music listening, a small cigar and good strong coffee.

can't wait till next sunday...

I agree that site needs more activity.

One idea: since we all enjoy taking photos and most of us enjoy sharing these photos with other - would it be a good idea to have a section of this forum dedicated to posting RF camera images - and maybe select a 'picture of the week' out of those photos?

May be something rather unique to have as a requirement that the photo is taken with a rangefinder camera.

Just got in to North Carolina

Just got in to North Carolina

I travel for a living, so on the weekends, I'm usually in the air somewhere, or stuck at an airport. Left home this morning (Albuquerque, NM) at 7:30 a.m. MST, flew to Phoenix, had a layover, flew to Raleigh-Durham, NC and arrived at 8:00 p.m. EST. Long day. On Saturdays, I usually fly home, but yesterday, my flights go all bollixed up and I didn't get home until 5 p.m. Makes for a short weekend!

When I got home yesterday, I found 5 packages from eBay waiting for me! Yay!

So here I am in my hotel in Wilson, NC, with a Braun Paxette IIM, 135/3.5, 50/2.8, and a 35 3.5. I also brought my old Canon FX slr (gasp) and a new toy for it - a mint, mint, mint, Vivitar Series 1 90mm 2.5 portrait/macro lens. Yowza!

Well, I'm off in search of dinner. Will check back later, hope everyone had a fun weekend!

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I got a second Minolta 7s off ebay last week, and it arrived for me to unpack on Saturday when I got home. Looks like new, but there is some corrosion inside the battery cavity. Not too bad, I think I can clean that out with no trouble. Didn't have the vinegar handy, so I'll do that when I get back home, after Thanksgiving.

I think I'll stop with two of the 7s, though. Nice cameras. What I need now is a functioning Konica Auto S2 or S1.6 for cheap.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Yay! Just won a very nice looking Olympus 35 LC on eBay.
More than what I initially wanted to pay for it (about 80 dollars) but I've been on the look out for a nice one of these for some time (it has the same G.Zuiko lens 7 elements 42/1.7 (!) as the 35SP and is a coupled rangefinder. Automatic parallax compensation and a light meter you 'dial in your settings' until the meter needle moves into the correct place.

Very exciting.

Also took the dog to the beach today. Lots of waves and surfers. Nice to be able to sit in thsirt and snap photos on the beach when it's the middle of November 🙂

Well, you all seem to be having a fine time! I've been looking over a Petri 7s that my mother found stashed away in a closet... and forced upon me. 🙂

It has a black leather ready case and a vinyl one containing wide and tele auxiliary lenses and matching viewfinder. The camera lens is unfortunately dented a bit at the bottom so the aux lenses won't currently fit.

Not sure that it's working...

Wow! Sounds like a lot of people had exciting news... and packages delivered to their doors!

My weekend? Gradarama: two sections of lit papers that I offered to return today. Finished with them Sunday at almost 7 PM, right before going to the movies to see "Master and Commander."

No photographic activities these last weeks. Not only the weather got ugly, but the job pressure too (tenure stuff, plan for two years ahead, a conference in San Diego next December)... Oh, well, I wasn't forced into this job: I chose it, and I don't regret it... except when it interrupts my life.

Have a nice week you guys! 🙂

Francisco,

I saw Master and Commander , too! Thought it was great, except that the film ran out of focus for over 50% of film, despite repeated complaints.

That must have been frustrating! I was once in a movie theater where the lens was only slightly off... and it bugged the hell out of yours-truly!! 😡😡😡

For a while, I thought I was going nuts, that only I had noticed it, but suddenly, the operator woke up and fixed it. I cannot remember which movie it was, but I do remember having the strange feeling of being (probably) the only one in the room who noticed the problem.

Besides the projectionist, of course!

Actually, I'm not sure the IS a projectionist in most theatres these days. I think some minimum wage guy shows up to start the so-called "automated" equipment, then goes back to sell more popcorn.

I managed to win TWO Olympus 35LC cameras in the end 🙂
One for 80-something and one for 20-something dollars.

Will see which one is the 'bargain' once they get here - they both seem to be in great condition.

Mmm...Zuiko glass....

hey Joe!

If after choosing your "chosen" one you think the other two puppies may need a warm new home, don't hesitate to post here. I'm sure some of us would be pleased to "adopt" one

even if the meter isn't working 😀

well taffer, that's a possibility.
my original plan was to have 2 bodies & maybe add slides to my normal b&w film compliment.
using the meterless camera was a possibility but i decided to go for 2 with working meters.
my 3rd is still available as long as my soon to be delivered camera is as good as advertised.
hhhmmm, how could we do this fairly...?
