My daughter is starting to show some more interest in photography (I've had her shooting on a k-1000 since she was 9)

I want to get her a pretty decent DSLR set-up, but there are so many "scammy" on-line dealers these days....anyone have any luck with any one in particular?

Thanks

Adorama has digital customer service person that is pretty easy to get ahold of (a member here and elsewhere).

I'd look here in the classified. Lots of great deals on digital stuff come through here every couple of weeks these days.

Heard lots of good stuff about KEH, I haven't pulled the trigger from them, but would not think twice.

Another thumbs up for Popflash, good folks out that way.

And of course CameraQuest.com!

I hear nothing but good reports about the other RFF sponsors, Precision Camera in Austin TX and Setadel Studios, although I've used neither.

I've used KEH to buy a 124G years ago and the camera was better than described (EX, was more LN) and was packaged very well. They have a good returns policy, which might be useful.

I've also heard good reports of MAP Camera in Tokyo, and postage is cheap from Japan. However I haven't bought from them.

I've bought used gear from both B&H and KEH and I've been very happy with both.

For new gear, it's B&H and Amazon. Prices are comparable but Amazon can get shipments to me faster.

I've also bought new gear from KEH in the past but I don't think they sell new stuff any longer.
