Can you recommend (based on your own experience) a good place for gallery- quality prints in size 16" by 20", color and true black-and-white, not outrageosly expensive.
I know Mpix.com for True B/W and tried adoramapix.com for color, but is there better places?
Thank you in advance.

MIkhail one minute ! i have a great experience about 3 years of getting all my printing needs done by a printing company. They have newly started there online printing services section and now they are providing very valuable services like free designing with unlimited reviews, free proofing and free shipping at your door step. Their printing quality is also matchless.

I've been happy with WHCC for color. Well, B&W too, but it's printed on color paper. They ship fast, let you upload via FTP, and are quite cheap for the quantity proof service if you want a ton of 4x6's or something. There larger prints are pretty affordable too.

If you want true B&W paper, I've heard good things about the following company, but it won't be as affordable as Mpix I'm sure:

Tim, i am sure the services of the following printing services providing company is matchless and cheapest with out compromising on quality in all over the world.

I've used and like El-Co. Their prices are quite good, and I've found the quality to be solid, though certainly there are professional labs that will do better at a higher price.

I've had excellent experiences with Aspen Creek, the "budget line" of West Coast Imaging (which also does excellent more "custom" work at a higher level and price). They have a sale weekly, and if you can wait for your size to come up, an even better deal.

In my experience, gallery quality B&W prints, and not outrageously expensive, are not compatible. I've had good results from MPIX, Winkflash, and others, but for what you want it would take someone like A&I in L.A., or The Black and While Lab in Az for those high quality enlargements. Those two do excellent work, and it isn't cheap.
I've had B&W printed on color paper and it's horrible. In one light it looked red, in another light it looked green. You really do need it printed on real B&W paper, as you stated..

I guess I can share my experience now: I finally found the place called http://www.mckennapro.com/
and they did pretty great job for me. They now have October promotion, I was able to print 16" by 20" prints "two for the price of one", very quickly, super fast shipping. They use fujimoto printer and silver halide paper up to 20"x30" prints. 24"x30" and up are printed on the cannon ink-jet printer.
The choices of paper: luster, silk and metallic. I tried all of them -some images look better on one than others, depends on image of course.
Also, I tried printing scans from black and white film, and I was plesantly surprised- no color shift whatsoever, under differnt light it still looks black and white.
So, in short, i would recommend thise guys to anybody.
