Good price ?

I have the opportunity to buy locally a M9 in very good condition (only about 4 months old), with a 90mm f:2 APO Summicron M ASPH (new in box) and a Summilux Aspherical 50mm f:1.4 (was bought with the camera) for about 2700 USD.

Is that a good price, providing everything is in good condition ?

Anything special to look out for ? How do I check the number of shutter actuations ? I didn't really follow M9 discussions, because I always considered it too expensive, but with these lenses in the deal, I'm tempted ..

No, I'm not joking, but I already thought the price might be too low to be real.
It's only about 80km from my place, so I asked the seller to let me come over and test it. I'm waiting for his answer now. The pictures look "believable" enough to accept it are pictures of the actual camera and lensesn the guy has for sale.

That's such a good price it's implausible... do you know the seller at all? Because if not it's most likely a scam. The lowest I've ever seen an M9 is $4000 for the body alone, and the lenses are easily both in the $2-4k range. If they give you some excuse that they've left the country and have to mail it then stay clear for sure.

Yes, I know: I have had mails like that before, but they are usually (over here, at least) in bad English, and the seller just "happens to be in Scotland with the camera" or something alike, but this seems different.
Anymay, I will not part with my money without having seen and felt the camera and lenses in person.
I'll keep you posted.

Hmmm... sounds oh, just 'bout EXACTLY the same deal that made the local Craigslist last week -and I am no where near Belgium.

Sounds a scam, deals that are 'too good to be true' most likely are always.

If you do somehow get to the point where an agreement to meet has been met, do not go alone. Bring someone with you, if you are driving to a location to meet, say a fast food joint, have your friend stay in the car with the money. It is simply safer to say, excuse me, step outside and get the money than being compromised. For what it's worth, they are selling you an item(s) what are they afraid of. Never walk into a situation where you can be confronted even in public and come out at a loss.

Lastly thoroughly check the items..
 
Meet at the local Police Station would be a good idea. It might be stolen, it might not exist at all so please be very careful if you decide to meet this person.
 
The possibility that it might be stolen crossed my mind also. Is there anyway this can be checked ? Is there (for example) a list of serial numbers kept somewhere of stolen (Leica) equipment ?

That's a very good idea; I already checked on google maps where the local policestation is. I'll take a friend with me if I'm going to meet ..

Maybe you can phone that Police Station for advice they might be able to spare an officer for a few minutes.
 
When the seller gets in contact and agrees to meet, I'll just tell him we are talking about a lot of money and that I expect him to understand I want to meet at the Police Station. If that's a problem for him, I know enough ..

Make sure the person suggests meeting up in a dark, seemingly abandoned parking lot. If they aren't wearing a ski mask and holding a knife and/or baseball bat when you pull up, burn rubber... it's a scam!
