Good problem/mystery to have?!

I just got back my "Luftwaffen Eigentum" IIIc from Don Goldberg (DAG). He does a fantastic job recovering old Leicas - He has his own techniques which give a really great result. My IIIc had red curtains but they were so deteriorated that the shutter wouldn't even fire. Don replaced the red curtains with like new red curtains. The result is a great camera but at some cost for the full overhaul and replacement of curtains, etc.

My camera has most of the "Luftwaffen Eigentum" inscription defaced, though. I have the Fl number on top but there is an ugly scar where the inscription on the back is, though the last letter "m" is still visible though.

If I had your camera (body), I would send it to Don in a flash - for a full overhaul and recovering.

I must second the suggestion to send to Don. He has worked on almost all my Leicas and has been the source of most of my parts. One of the very best out there. Period. It costs what it costs to bring back a beautiful camera, but for me its worth it. Don cuts no corners. The camera will be as good as it can possibly be. Just thinking about it, I can just feel that satisfaction from using that camera once it comes back from Don. And you will want to use it.
