Good Xmas Gift for Photogs

If you're like me, you're always writing your shooting notes on whatever odd bits of paper you can find lying around the house. Well, I just bought this little pocket notebook and it's so great I think all photogs would love to have one even non-RFF'ers. It's a Moleskine reporters notebook which I bought here but you can find elsewhere. It's an inexpensive photography related gift that makes a good stocking stuffer. (I have no connection to the product accept as a user).

I've been using Moleskine notebooks for a couple of years now - including one of those that lives in my camera bag 😀

They are not cheap, as notebooks go, but they are excellent.

I have three obsessions in life:

1) photography, and it's paraphenalia.
2) bags (camera bags, satchels, good things for lugging my stuff in - yes, I'm a girly-man wrt this one thing, it amuses my wife greatly; she has bought me a beautiful leather satchel for Christmas, and I also have my eye on the timbuk2 messengers).
3) notebooks and pens.

In all three it appears I have expensive tastes 😀 In the form-and-feel stakes, I'd liken Moleskine to... maybe not Leica... but certainly what I hope the ZIkon to be like 😉

Hello, my name is Vidar and i have the same problem .. . 😀

Been thinking of the new moleskine reporter, but since they don´t have it here in Argentina I have to wait until I'm back in Norway.
Been using their pocket agenda for the last two years and it´s a needful thing.

Can I add my name to the camera/satchel/notepook,pen fetish group aswell?

I used to like my Moleskine's aswell. But then I came across Scandinavian Bookbinder's Design in Paris, (they're a Swedish company though). They're also on the pricey side but they are beautifully, tightly bound in nice fabrics, very high quality paper and feel really great.

Only one thing to add:

4) mechanical watches

I've used them for a couple of years now primarily for work. It has everything from photo notes, to do lists, part numbers (work stuff). The little band is what I like. I use the band as a place holder so that I can always open it to the page I last wrote in. These days though I just write directly into my pocket pc since I always have it my pocket anyway (I have an exposure and DOF program on it). I just put all my info into a premade spreadsheet. Then I can print it and store it with that roll once it's processed. Yeah, I'm a geek 🙂

Standard issue Memo book (U.S. Government issue) Federal Supply number 7530-00-222-0078. Fits in your back pocket or camera bag very easily. It is green with Memoranda in a script font across the front. Works for me. Don't know if you can pick these up in the civil market though.

Nice photo, Nick. Great tonality! Did you take it with your new 28mm lens?

Thanks, yes I did.
I didn't post this in my gallery because I want to go back and work it a little differently. One reason to take good notes 🙂

Peter, with that attitude, you're gonna wind up with a lump of coal! 😉

LOL you are right Nick. The Ampad is kind of wrecked. I'll drop into a nice little paper store nearby today and see what they've got. 😉
