I went to the local camera store in my hometown and found a Minolta MD Rokkor-X 85mm f1.7 in near perfect shape for $49.95 !!! I bought it, of course!

I have an old SRT-101 with a 50mm f1.7 MC Rokkor. This will work nicely on that.

That is a fantastic deal on an exceptional lens. I was just looking at one about two months ago, but I just couldn't part with the three hundred dollars to put it on an SRT-102 camera I hadn't used in 23 years...it was a close call, but I held firm. Had it been 50 to 75$ it would be mine. Enjoy what is one of the finest fast portrait lenses I have ever used.

I'm looking forward to comparing it to my other two 85s. I have an 85/2 Olympus Zuiko (the newer black-front MC version) and a Nikon AF-Nikkor 85/1.8. The Nikon is incredibly sharp, but the Zuiko has better bokeh (and is very sharp too but the Nikkor is sharper). I can't wait to see how the Rokkor compares.

What a steal Chris! Post up a comparison between the nikkor, zuiko and rokkor if you get the time, I'd love to see them together!

That is a great deal. No, it was a steal.

I have up an MC 85/1.7 for my SRTs. Post some shots from your comparison of the lenses. It will be interesting to see the differences, if any.

Congrats on the great find. That is one of the lenses that I plan on adding to my SR-T 101 kit. I have really enjoyed shooting 85mm with my Canon EOS and would really like to do so with the Minolta.

I currently have a MD 28mm f2.8, MD 50mm f1.7, (2) MC 58mm f1.4, MD 135mm f3.5 and a MC 80 - 200mm f3.5. I hope to fill in with a 35mm and the 85mm and a macro of some sort. These are great lenses at a great price. This is the reason that I decided to build a SR-T kit. I have gotten 2 bodies, lenses and flash for way less than half of an EOS L lens.
