I got a parcel today from a nice man by the name of Mr Gandy - it contained my Bessa-R with 35/2.5 and brown case 😀

First impressions are very favourable. It feels more solid and chunky than my Bessa-L (but that might just be due to its heavier weight), and it feels nice in my hands. But what I really like is the viewfinder - it's amazingly bright, the parallax-correcting frames are cool, and the rangefinder spot is really sharp and snappy. The brown case is a lot nicer than the standard black ones too. And it was a great price too, so thanks Mr G 🙂

So that's this weekend sorted - no idea where yet, but I'll be out shooting somewhere.

The R is a great camera -- that's a very nice lens as well. I've been using that combo for a couple of years now without a single regret. Find a nice Jupiter 3 or 8 and you'll be set! Have fun!

Yup, the Bessa R and 35 is a great combo, especially for what Gandy is selling them for. Good move on your part to pick one up! Hope it will bring much enjoyment to you. Be sure to share your photos with us in time!

My only problem is that direction of the focus and fstop was different (they are Nikon/Contax clones) from the CV lenses. The 75 is much smaller and lighter. But a good j-9 will not serve your poorly. It is a bit faster too, WIMHO is a postive
Oh yes, that's a good point that I hadn't thought of - the meter LEDs will be pointing the wrong way for the Jupiter aperture ring. But on the positive side, the parallax-correction in the viewfinder will make composition with it a lot easier then with my FSU bodies.

But a CV 75 is definitely on my wish list - I'm selling a few things on eBay over the next few weeks, so depending on how well they do I might just go for one.

And thanks everyone for your good wishes - I'll share some photos as soon as I have some.
