After shooting with two RF which were not mine (Zorki 4 and Olympus 35-SP) and after going two times to the store within the last month - I finally bought my first RF. It's a very nice looking, compact and quiet black Canonet G-III QL17.
The light meter seems good (checked it with respect to my 30D), the clicks sound matching the shutter speeds and the apertures "look" OK.
I'm now shooting a test roll and afterwards I intend to take to the local Canon service. It's a very nice camera, Compact, very quiet, the RF mechanism is very clear and better than any other I saw before (but I only tried Olympus SP, Zorki 4 and Yashika Minister).
The only flaw are some minor spots I see on the front element of the lens. They are hardly visible and I hope they won't matter to the image quality. I saw them at the store but liked the camera so much so I bought it anyway.
Anyway - you might be able to answer this question -
I thought that if I really decide to get crazy and perfectionalist and fix this I can buy a cheap non-functional (silver) Canonet and ask a technician to replace the front lens element.
Do you think it's possible? Is there a risk in doing so?
Any answer would be appriciated
