Picked it up on the bay for 20 bucks. Even came with a fresh PX-13 battery. A good wipe down and it's good as new.
Everything works as it should and I will run a test roll through it this evening.

Congratulations! They're big, kind of clunky cameras, but the lens on it is superb (especially with colour film).

It is somewhat big and clunky as you say but it does handle well. I shot a couple of rolls earlier and will process tomorrow. All seems well so far.

Photos taken so far have been razor sharp and contrasty. But then the Rokkors are some of the best optics around.

I bought a hi-matic 7s for a friend. I was floored by the size in comparison to my 7sII. The 7sII is really pocket sized compared with the 7s. None the less, the 7s is a gorgeous camera and just feels damned nice to use.

To be honest I prefer my 7s over my 7sII. The build quality is so much better and the 7sII almost does not fit my hand. However it is a nice little carry around camera for quick shots when you don't want to disturb your subject.

Tx talk--7s is built like a brick s_____house. I have a black 7S and love it.
I see you have a Kiev. Do you like it? What lens(es) do you use on it? Do you get quality pics?

I've found the photos from both the 7s and 7s-II have been excellent: sharp and contrasty. The decision as to which one is better is really a matter of personal choice.
The 7s has a brighter viewfinder, but is big and heavy. It's definitely something you plan to carry around.
The 7s-II is light and compact, perfect for leaving in your bag to have with you; however, the controls are fussy if you've got big hands. The viewfinder is also rather dim and the aperature scale can be difficult to read in lower light.

Neither is really better. It depends on which one you like best and are most comfortable with.
If you are referring to build quality the 7s is built better but is also larger than the compact 7sII.
The 7s is larger than the 7sII.

The Kiev is a very good camera and has become my second favorite behind my Leicas.
I have the 35, 50, 85, and 135mm Jupiter lens for it.. These lens are very capable performers. See my gallery link below for sample shots under the Kiev photos folder.

To all non-Texans that would translate to Fort Worth, Texas.

I'll bet you don't miss the Big D traffic jams during morning and evening rush hour.

You mean the Houston traffic jams? Horrible--the West Loop of 610 has more cars a day than any other stretch of road in the USA.
Today I enjoy a subway or Express bus ride! No hassle.
