Got my Oly 35RC and I am mad!

Walker, I hope it works out for you, too. Did you call the person. Sometimes, it works wonders.

Thanks, Natalia. No, I haven't called the seller...... yet. I want to be fair and give her every opportunity to correct the problem before I bother to call. I'll hold off a little longer.

I, too, disagree with the 100% "rule". I'll go with 99% and even someone who has a 98%+ depending upon the comments in the feedback. If the seller comes across as a jerk then they've cooked their own goose in my book. Reasoned replies are a positive while possibly "never-satisfied" buyers are ignored on my part and the seller gets the benefit of the doubt.

Lil' Red, I'm glad you were able to get your money back and hope you find a nice RC.

I'm presently working on a "situation" with a seller and buyer. Long story short: I won and paid for a 28-105mm Vivitar lens. Total cost, inc. shipping was less than $25. The seller also sold the camera it was on and now claims that the lens was "accidentally" shipped with the camera to the other buyer. A full refund was offered but I want the lens.

The other buyer was to return from a trip last Tuesday and the seller said they won't answer her emails. The seller also said she is going to use ebay's "Square Trade" arbitration to resolve the issue if necessary.

We'll see what happens.

Before you get too upset over that Vivitar lens, was it the Vivitar Series 1 28-105 model, made by Cosina? Let's talk. I'll give you the inside scoop on the Viv's.

Good news..... I think. The seller of the 28~105mm Vivitar lens has emailed me that the other customer will be sending the lens to me directly via UPS. The seller has issued a prepaid label.

Russ, I just received a very unusual Vivitar 85mm f/1.8 lens without an iris diaphram and limited focus range. It can only be used at f/1.8 and the focus range is from a couple/few feet to about 20 feet. It uses a T-Mount and it may be a special custom job after it left the factory. The workmanship is outstanding and clearly professional.

Have you ever seen anything like that before?

I thought I would have to give my first negative feedback the other day. I bought a CD that contains a complete photography course and it arrived snapped in half. I emailed the seller and she said she was sorry about what happened and that another would be sent out immediately. The original was packed in an envelope and padded by some corrugated cardboard and in a CD sleeve. No markings on the envelope to say it was fragile. The replacement came a few days later (at no cost to me) intact. It was in a similar envelope, with the same cardboard BUT the CD was placed in a CD case and the envelope was marked in BIG RED letters "DO NOT BEND! FRAGILE!"

I was impressed by this supurb customer service and I highly recommend this seller to anyone.

I am sorry to hear about all of your experiences with bad sellers/buyers on ebay. I hope they are kept to a minimum in the future.

This whole thread, with all its ins and outs, is interesting, given that the Oly 35RC was produced and new some thirty years ago. I bought mine new in about 1973, and it wasn't until later that Pop Photo ran an article praising it. Just goes to show what decent camera can do and the following it can generate. Unhappily, mine got stolen.

They Oly Stylus series could be considered a more modern version/replacement. They are also nice cameras and are available in several zoom versions. Also, I think, a fixed (non-zoom) model. I now have the 38-120 version, and it takes mighty sharp pictures.

oly has always made a good camera and produced lens that are remarkable.
i also had a stylus, 35/3.5 version, and it was amazingly sharp.

i aslo bought a new rc in about 70/71 i think. i had it before i moved to canada and i moved here in early '72.
i still have that, it was my first 'good' camera. i doubt i would ever sell it.

the only 'downside' to the stylus was it being an auto everything cam. i like the manual options on the rc still.
