Just wanted to write up and express my enthousiasm on actuallly holding this camera for the first time! It came after holding an M8 for just an hour or so (thats the extend I was allowed to "fondle" it by my friend
) and I must say I can relate to this as a retro /mech /classic camera way more so than the Leica ( IMHO, please no stone throwing  )
so if you are thinking about getting one, DONT think. Go and get it.
Also a great THANK YOU to Ian from this forum "fgianni" for the prompt response and friendly transaction and helpful insight.
Can't wait to roam the street again, incognito (as opposed to my previous failed attempts of going unseen with a canon 1D and zoom L glass).

Every day that I pick the camera up, I get the same feeling. I've been picking up since last December.
Enjoy!

Glad at least one buyer is happy, I had to take back my 75 LUX because the buyer found it backfocused with his M8, strange because it is ok with my two R-D1 (now only one since I sold the other to George) I'll have it checked again by Peter before putting it back for sale.
I hope you will enjoy you new toy George, and thanks for a very pleasant transaction.

Hihi... I was thinking of bidding for the same auction to get a second body
(The funny thing is that in the moment when I saw that the auction was finished I thought 'when is he/she going to post about it in the forum...'
Welcome and enjoy the camera!

hehe thank you michael who saved me because it was just barely the price what I'd afford for at the moment
Still some euros left enough for memory cards and batteries

I was an R-D1 shooter before I moved to the M8 and sold it. As great as the M8 is I do miss some of the features and ergonomics of the R-D1. I really enjoyed using the funky navigation controls and the dials are excellent. Having a real exposure compensation dial is something I miss on the M8 although I suspect that I'd have found a way to remove the dial interlock on the R-D1 by now.
I'll buy another R-D1 at some point I'm sure.

At least I know my R-D1 went to a good home. I do confess to having a little seller's remorse both for the Epson and my own Mamiya 7II that I sold a few years ago too. I have an XPan outfit here that I've consigned a couple of times but couldn't bear to let go and took back - twice! (It came out for the weekend to blow through some film).
So, now I need a Mamiya 7II and an R-D1 to replace those that I sold.
