Recently I got an offer I couldn't refuse for this lens and was able to pick it up today... It's so small & matches perfectly (IMO) with my Nicca... I have seen some great shots from others using this lens & I can't wait to see how it handles for myself!

I love the J-12's I have, but I think this lens will get a lot more use. No more looking down into the lens to check that I hadn't changed the aperture while focusing. The rear element isn't such a monster either, so I'll be a little less petrified taking it on and off my cameras. AND it has a focusing lever!

Does anyone have experience with mounting filters on the hood? The deal I got included a Leitz UV filter marked Summarit, but I don't know if it is a good idea having the filter so far from the front element?

I would not mount the filter on the hood. Does your lens have the original hood that came with the lens? A 39mm filter will thread into the lens and the hood will fit, a little tightly, but it will fit to screw into it's outside threads. Have a filter that far away from the front element and out unprotected is inviting flare to attack you.

You'll love the CV35. Mine has spent more time on my Bessa R than any other lens since I got it. Peter

Thanks Peter! I do think it will become a favorite!

Hey rover, thanks for the advice! I do have the original round hood, & the summarit filter is currently mounted on the outer threads... I'll have to pick myself up some 39mm filters.

Thanks again,

Peter

that lens is very sharp and very contrasty.

if you normally use a yellow for b&w i suggest you try without for a roll.
the cv lenses are really very good.

try the 75 if you want something a bit long and sharp.

Thanks Joe!

I remember you suggesting trying the lens without a yellow filter to me over on the camera collector board... This is my 2nd CV lens now and I must say that I am really impressed with them. I'd love to pick up the 75mm, but I just couldn't justify the $$$ right now. I'm leaving for Australia next week for nearly 2 months & I should be careful with my money. Although, I did just order a CV meter II & double shoe adapter... When sending my order off to Stephen I was tempted to go a little crazy & add some other things from my wish list!

I should be happy for now... My ltm kit includes -

Cosina 107-SW (Bessa L) & 15mm f/4.5
Tower type 3 & Serenar 50mm f/1.9
Nicca type IIIS & Nikkor 50mm f/2
( + a few FED's & Zorki 4)

J-12
CV 35/2.5 Color Scopar Classic
FED 50mm f/3.5 collapsible
I-61 L/D
Leitz Elmar 90mm f/4
Super-Acall 135mm f/3.5

Now I just have to decide what to take with me!

Cheers!

Peter

must be my age...i forget things sometimes...but i suggest you not use a yellow filter with that lens...😉

Peter - the Nicca and the cv 35 look awesome together - what a cool, compact package.

heh - I'm in Melbourne - dunno if you're an Aussie currently OS or just coming over for a visit. Either way PM me if you'd like to say g'day over a beer if you get to Melbourne.
