... boy, do they re-open some possibilities of non-diopter RFs and SLRs.
i've been shooting a bit with my grand old konica S III. the patch now has very good contrast, and the viewfinder is actually clear. 🙂
i'm hoping russ can put the thrift store yashica lynx-1000 into shape, because i could see a nice, contrasty patch and view before shipping it off to him. 🙂
and, because of the glasses, i'll be looking for rangefinder repair and CLA for my minolta A5, which has a wonderful lens for BW, very capable of the ol' 3d thang.

I'm waiting for my new varifocals too (10 days around). I'm curious how they will enhance my focussing skills...

I love my varifocals but they can get some getting used to. With a Leica 28mm frameline it is just about possible to see the edges at a stretch, but I learned to do a quick scan around the edges of the frame before I got varifocals. Being able to see the shutter speeds and apertures without taking my glasses off was the biggest benefit!

My eyes are still "settling down" after cataract surgery. Even so, distance vision is 20-20. Reading distance still difficult. We'll know more in a month or so, but the whole procedure was quick, painless, and very effective.

my new glasses are standard bifocals with the little panes. upper part plenty big for eyeballing viewfinders.

What I like is trying to focus a 28mm or a 20mm with a SLR. You really have to have good vision for that. I've about given up on the 20mm, and am only using it on a AF SLR. I'm going soon for new glasses. I hope it helps.
