I'm off to Gothenburg for a long weekend with some friends 29 April. I've not seen a guide book dedicated to Gothenburg so I thought I'd ask my wise and well travelled friends here to suggest some places (bars and coffee shops mainly) to visit.
Any areas a must or any to avoid?
I'll be taking the usual array of cameras (Olympus XAs included for those bar snaps). If I take anything good (which will be a fluke), I'll be sure to post on the gallery.

Have I found somewhere were no RFFers' are from? Or have visited?

I was there almost 40 years ago and I would say there was "nothing" to see there, maybe things have changed. I'm sure there must me something there, I'm just not aware of it. I remember trying to hitch out of town and many of it's kindly citizens would stop to tell me it was forbidden to hitchhike where I was standing. Finally got a ride out of town from a former Hungarian soldier, who had somehow defected during the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Please let us know what you find.

Hasselblad is headquartered in Gothenburg and has a photo display there. As I remember, the square/plaza by the building is a good place for street shooting.
Of course, Volvo has a factory there also, but unless you are picking up a new Volvo it probably isn't much of a tourist spot.
The city is nice to walk in and quite interesting (for someone from Seattle).

Actually, we were just there (from Seattle) picking up our new Volvo. The Hasselblad Center is located in the Göteborg Museum of Art. Both are very worthy of a visit. If you can make your way out to it, the Volvo museum is also very good (especially if you have a Volvo!). Within Goteborg, the Haga district is very nice.
Have fun!

Hmm... that's the 1st of May weekend. Oh my, oh my... At least you will experience how normally very cool, calm and collected Swedes behave when they are thoroughly marinated in all sorts of alcoholic beverages.
