Just got back my Agfa Karat IV from Dean Williams up in Idaho. He did a complete CLA and returned the camera in 1 week. Also recollimated the lens, and tested the camera by shooting a roll to check accuracy. Emailed the pictures to me. Camera controls are buttery smooth. Total cost was $59 plus $10 for insured shipping. He also does Yashica-Mats, D&C's, Ricohs, Argus and Kodaks. Website is www.deansofidaho.com. I'm a very happy camper!

No relation to him, just wanted to let fellow RFF'ers know another source for good camera work. Thanks to RFF member yefeihe for the tip on Dean.

Yep, I sent him my Rolleicord III and was rewarded with a beautifully functioning camera afterwards. The CLA was $59, and it was money well spent!

Thanks for the first hand info! I've had his site bookmarked for a while but after my bad experience with a guy in Arizona, I've been reluctant to try him.
Thanks!
Rob

Do you know if he repairs Compur shutters? My Franka Solida (it's an uncoupled rangefinder folder) has a sticky shutter with speeds at and slower than 1/8 sec.

Does he repair Compur shutters? I sure hope so, since the Rolleicord III I sent him has one in it!

So, to answer your question, yes, he does repair/CLA Compur shutters.

James and Danny, thank you for the kind words...

gabrielma, if you are unable to find someone near your location who can work on your Compur, feel free to drop me a line.

I wish I had more time to read this forum, but, you know, busy and all that.
I don't remember the last time I posted to the RFF, and I couldn't get logged in, so I re-registered using my middle initial with my name. So I guess this is post #1 for me.
