The Epson Store has a special on refurbished R1800's for $389 with free shipping! It's an incredible printer, particularly for monochrome on Museo Rag and is slightly more than a 40% savings. A friend purchased one. It had been returned because of a minor blemish on the case. They are fully waranteed by Epson for a year with an option to extend to three years. I just bought one myself! I have no connection to Epson other than as a happy customer. I lucked out with one of the few problem-free RD1's. Anyway, check it out!

Ira:

I don't think there are any coupons applicable to refurbished units. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember discussing this with my buddy who has been working with his new printer.

Jeff,
There were discount codes that were available for refurb R-D1s in Nov. and Dec. They were published here. They probably also worked with many other areas of the site. Just asking in case there are any current. The old discount codes don't work anymore.

Looks like there is no discount code that anyone knows. I'll just have to buy without one. (boohoo)

Thanks, Ira! Now there are three of us that I know took advantage of the deal!

By the way, it's an incredible printer. I saw some monochrome prints my buddy generated with Lyson Ink and Museo rag. It's impressive.

Don't feel bad, it only gets worse! Just start telling yourself GAS is good, GAS is good, GAS is good!!:bang:

For emptying out that bothersome checking account! :D

Anyone have a discount code valid for January 2007?

The code FS8F (picked up from the RD-1 Refurb thread) still works on the R1800. I believe that it is good until the end of the month.

Yep, that is from my post. Good until 1-31.

Too late for me. I already bought it without the code. Couldn't find it amidst all of the different R-D1 refurb threads. Anyone ever notice how bad search is in forums? Yuck!

Hey Jeff,
Do you have any pointers for these inks and papers? They look very non-standard.

Here is the link for paper.
Interested in ink as well.

Just bought one myself. $350.10 with shipping is too hard to not do.

First the R-D1, now this...
BTW, Jeff, my R-D1 is also just working. No prob. Quite impressed by the images so far.

Ira:

Here are some of the links I've been working with. Paul Roark is the man my buddy has studied with. He is doing extraordinary work with Digital B&W with ink of his own development. I'll be taking a seminar with him in a few months as well. Here is the Lyson link to their support documents. I really like their product, as does my buddy. Their ICC profiles are available here. Andreas was kind enough to provide the link to Crane for Museo Rag. Most of the paper vendors provide custom ICC profiles for their products. Hope this helps. Sorry for the delayed response. Hope you're enjoying your printer as much as I am.

What kind of color management do you use. I've been using Pantone which works for me. Many folks I know are using Gretag. Anyway, sorry for the delayed response, clients and all that. :)
