This was first brought to my attention by Roger Hicks, whom I thank very much for the HU.

It is an ingenious electronic level with LED lamps and best of all a beep sound when balance is achieved.
I picked one up in Korea two weeks ago and could not be more pleased for use with ultra wides.

Also available at Adorama:

Also comes a little cheaper (AL-105) without the beep.
Best,
Roland.

I'm in Korea and I got my Korean friend to check this site today. She says there is no email function on the site that works. Anybody got a good email address for them?
If I can get the cash up front for at least 10-20 (one at a time/ per member is OK), I'll order and mail (at your risk) to my RFF buddies here anywhere on this planet.
Also, with all due respect to our Korean members, I would doubt the longevity of this device. If it's electronic, it's bound to fail after a short while. First to go would be the beep, then the lights. Most Korean electronic goods are just not up the quality standards of the Japanese. I'd bore you w/ all the household crap I've bought here that died and couldn't be returned.

That's why I picked up the last three double hot shoe mounts in the stores here.
I don't know about email addresses for the website but there is a phone number.

Long Live Film!!!
I have 2 of these... together with an Iphone/touch.
Go try using the iphone/touch's level function when composing with your RF. Try doing that at -15 deg C. U'll probably end up with a bunch of crooked pictures, and a dead weight that was once your iphone. I tried that... didn't work.
As per the above, double hotshoe levers are the next best thing to costco's chicken bake. Love them. Put your VF there and this level, bliss..

There's a 'mini-review' of the original pre-beep version on the site:
http://www.rogerandfrances.com/photoschool/reviews action level.html
The review also contains re-written instructions on how to use it, as I found the original less than crystal clear, though this may have improved since photokina 2008.
Oh: and noimmunity, you're very welcome for the HU. Looking for stuff that actually works is one of the more enjoyable aspects of my job.
Tashi delek,
Roger

John:
Very funny. No level for the Avatar. Just a natural affinity for correct "alignment and position" which has gotten me into loads of trouble.

I take it this is a single-axis level, right? For side-to-side level? Not front-to-back as well?

nobody special
LEDs?, beeps?, iPhone? I must be missing something.
I have this ingenious device made of a slight curved glass tube with liquid in it, except for this air bubble. And I have another that works in both axes. Both came from Home Depot and cost less than $5-.
Oh wait, this is all related to why I don't use my digital camera........
