I emailed Tim for a Thumbs Up and a Lens Coding Kit on Monday night and asked if I could pay for overnight air since I am leaving for a trip on Thursday.

He replied that since he was going to be in Vancouver to meet a prospective dealer, he could meet me at a Starbucks and deliver the merchandise.

Well, I just came back from the meeting. One, Tim is not only a gentleman and a nice guy, but he DOES have the design experience. For example, he was the designer for Lightspeed (titanium bike frames) when Robbie McEwan won the Tour of Italy a few years back. (Tim is the kind of guy who would be too modest to brag about this online). So, yes, he has extensive Finite Element Analysis experience.

Two, the Thumbs Up works great. It totally changes the handling of the camera. In fact, I speculated that someday maybe Leica will incorporate the Thumbs Up with every new M8, and he could retire from the licensing fees and royalties : )

I also got the new eyecup from him, although I didn't think that I would need it (hey, free shipping-why not?) Well, I like it, not just for cutting down on light leakage, but it just feels much better pressing your eyeball against soft rubber (?) versus glass and brass. Again, highly recommended.

We talked for an hour about cameras and watches. It's always nice to meet someone who is truly passionate about what he does. Kudos to Tim, and his products.

Eric

Having seen his site and designs, he is a truly amazing person/engineer. Vast talent and drive. I am currently awaiting an M8 from another member with some "Tim" goodies, really looking forward to it. Bob.
