Ah, sorry if I put you off - I would have bid had it not gone too high for me (maybe I should have mentioned my limit here to avoid putting others off).

Not a problem Alan , I was only going as high as £17.57 any way ;)

Unfortunately I have seen a steady rise in the price of UK FSU cameras unless I,m selling them , then I end up getting at least 50% less than I paid for them :D

From now on I think I will just offer any spares on here , At least I will know their going to a good home :)

LOL !!!!!!!!!! ........ I DO want to try more lenses (even ones which won`t fit the RD1 such as the J11) and have one of those cheap 3 frame Helios viewfinders too :) ...

If the Green was Original Would the Vulcanite have been "Dyed" if that`s possible?, If not, I`d hate to De-Green a genuine camera, though as someone in this thread pointed out, the Green Cs were VERY Green and Nylon covered like the 4K (going by rus-camera.com). the Green looks very dark in the pics and as you say, very FED-Like , is there any way of telling unless they made a sloppy job and paint ended up dribbled inside the body? ...

Does this camera needs the leader Trimming like the early Leicas? ..

As for getting each version - hmm, I have to admit that I DID bid on a mint late 4K last week (Have to have a 4A.5 and a 4K Right !! ) and I`d not miss a 1 if one showed up at the right price ;-)

I would just scratch gently somewhere inconspicuous like under the tab where the base hooks on to the body and see if green paint flakes off to check the colour , not to sure about dyeing the vulcanite ,its applied under pressure and at high temperature originally if my memory serves me , so cant really see it being dyeable and yes its a bottom loader so you have to trim the leader .
