New York Greenwich Village Halloween Parade

Pro-Mone,

Dinner plans with the owners of Baby-Dog along with the rain ans it for me. This year it seems I'm particularly sensitive to the cold. I have no tolerance anymore and I feel the fatigue.

Yeah the weathers really starting to get to me also. It'll be strange if Johns the only one who goes shooting today!!

I have the MM loaded, SD card formatted, spare battery packed and now it starts to rain.
Even steady rain later tonight, oooh that sux :bang:

They had a little parade in Brooklyn Heights over the weekend. It was fun and the weather was perfect. To bad it's raining down there, should be OK in Boston until about 9pm or so.

Photographing parades john. I know it's not your thing.

Pro-Mone,

I generally go for the smut that happens before the parade. This is also true for the Mermaid Parade. I find the leading up to, and the behind the scenes more interesting than the actual event.

I say go for the smut because its more interesting than the tourist shots. I look for surprises.

Well I went yesterday and took your advice and was in the staging area before the parade. Met Jeff who was geeked out in Nikons finest and ended up actually walking IN the parade. I guess people thought I was with the press!

P-M,

It is actually cool being part of the parade. I watched the parade on channel 11 for about 2 minutes last night.

I went last night too, was late, finding a parking spot was of course a PITA. Ended up somewhere in Tribeca. I have seen very little from the parade itself but lots of folks around which was more interesting than the marching bands. Police barricades all over the place and getting closer to 6th Ave was almost impossible. But just standing in one area for a couple of hours to have a first row spot in not my kind of thing. I was walking around all over the place when I was able to get through. Luckily the heavy rain started only later. I will post some shots.

Cal,

I won on ebay two Nikon F3 body's for parts, they were only $30.00 dollars and on
my good one I found out the advance lever is bent and the power switch is hard to
turn on, so I'll be switching parts now.
