I recently bought a mint 240mp and wanted to try it with a grip. I had an m9 for years and used a thumbs up. After searching around I bought the M-Grip from Eric Paulson at Photo Equip. This thing is beautifully made, machined from single block with a very comfortable soft rubber grip. After trying it out, I returned my gariz half grip. It makes handling and focusing so much more stable. I highly recommend this grip.

I also recently bought and would highly recommend a grip from Photo Equip, the ML-Grip for my M3. As above, it is very nicely made and quite functional - in addition to handling, I like being able to set the camera down without it tipping forward on to the front rim of the lens. The ML model does not have to be removed to change film, however, it does have to be removed to mount a goggled lens (I imagine this is true of other grips as well).

The ML grip is nice (I used to own one with my M3), I currently have a leather case with built-in grip for my M240 from Leicatime in Italy. Very comfortable, highly recommended.

I use the regular Leica Grip for the M-9 along with a thumbs up (I didn't really find the Thumbs Up adequate for how I use my camera but figured why remove it once I had the Leica grip).
I generally carry my camera in a bag for transporting and in my hand with no strap when I'm shooting.

I actually use both the M Grip and Thumbs up, couldn't be more comfortable.
The M grip is a lot less expensive than the leica or the half case pictured above while still being of excellent quality
