i would not have thought to try this on my own but i was asked to take a look to see if the zi grip might fit the cle...and it does!!
it's not a perfect fit, and the rewind release opening would need to be shaved a bit as it partly covers the button but it works!!!!!!!!
i think i may just order one for the cle tonight!

Awesome. Now I just need some spare cash to send towards Popflash for one of these. Thanks for trying it out.

That non original hood looks good on the 40mm Rokkor as well. Does it intrude on the Viewfinder/Rangefinder much?

Hej,
do you guys think that would work on the CL? Do the two cameras share the tripod mount position?

Doug said:Looks good, Joe! I'm fortunate to have the original CLE sidegrip for mine. Interesting that the more-obtainable Z-I item is that close a fit.
i missed out on one on ebay that went for $100.

no intrusion on the 40mm framelines joel.
i have the original rubber hood also but i much prefer a metal hood, better for some added protection.

Looks difficult to rewind with the grip on, no ?

haven't tried yet but i think it's doable, maybe not the most comfortable.
but i like to use a grip on my cameras so this would be worth any smaller sacrifice.

Alot of people seem to shy away from rubber hoods. The Rokkor hoods however are very good, they seem to last longer without perishing compared with the Summicron C hoods. The rubber seems alot thicker and stay extended more readily. The original lens caps also clip into them nicely.
I have numerous CLE's and am a big fan but never did buy the grip. I just think it makes them too large and an awkward shape so I prefer to go down the Luigi Case for that extra feel and grip.

nothing against the rubber hood itself, mine is in very nice shape, but i feel more secure against bumps with the metal hood.
joel, the cle with grip feels great. i like having my 3 fingers wrapped around the grip, just seems nicely balanced.

Was that vented hood very expensive? what's strange about it is that the hood for the CLE 28mm Rokkor is a metal vented hood and the looks similar to the non original one you purchased. I wonder why they mixed and matched they way they did, one lens with a metal vented hood and the others with collapsible rubber ones. Its a nicer looking hood than the original for the 40mm without doubt.

cheap, i think 10 bucks from 'american eagle' on ebay.
i remember the metal hood for the 28, it was strange they had 2 rubber and one metal hood for their lenses.
maybe they couldn't shape the rubber they way they wanted for the wide angle?
joe
p.s. the hood would fit closer to the lens but i have a thick filter on the lens.

the used zeiss grip for the cle arrived today!!
it fits so nice and makes the camera feel even more secure in my hand, while still feeling nice & small.
i just need to drill a small bit away so the film release button can be easily accessed without need for a pencil tip.
gotta love a good grip.
