Grips etc.

So the R-D1 hasn't been in London for a while--it's been in my bag. Happy so far. Has anybody tried the Bessa grip? Does it fit and/or foul the SD card door? What about the Leica lens holder? Yes it would be off-centre but still perhaps handy...?

I can confirm the Bessa grip doesn't fit the RD-1, having both.There have been some threads about grips in the past.I prefer to use one of Luigis half cases on mine.

Thanks for the Bessa grip info--I won't bother, then! As for the grip on ebay, I'm not sure that I want one to the tune of £80... 🙂 Thanks, though!

There is Nikon grip that is easy to modify that fits the R-D1, I got that from a thread somewhere around here..

if you get an FM grip, drop Eric an email, most of the time they are out of stock and have to fill orders to get them fabricated. My grip took 2 months to get to me, I'm a patient guy so I didn't care. Once I got it I had to modify it, this is also filing the inside of the grip down, adding felt to it, and drilling 2 slight holes where the RD-1's tiny feet go. Remember the R-D1 has 4 tiny feet at the base plate, these will get squashed if you don't make room for them.
