When I developed my first of 2 rolls of delta from my new IIIf, it seems I have some pinholes in the curtain, looking at the curtains reveals looaads of them. Also, on one frame, there is a band in the center which apears unexposed, as well as having lots of scratch-like lines running along it (there is a second with only the lines, no dark patch) any idea what this is?

Luckily, I got my camera from Ffordes, so I should get it fixed under warranty :)

Rant over!

Don't fret, not too expensive a fix even if you don't have a warranty.

My original shutter curtains looked like hell, may have been patched but I don't think so-and didn't leak at all! The new ones are of course great.

good good :)

Think I did over react a little there, its just annoying to spend £450 on a nice camera, after saving for ages, and find its broke :(

None of the leaks ruined any pictures really, so its not all bad. Any idea what the thing with the black strip in the centre and the lines along it is though?

I've emailed the place I got it, and I might even try to get myself a free CLA :p

A CLA might not fix that problem.

And did you really pay $900US for a IIIf? I hope it came with several lenses.

From your description, it sounds like it needs whole, new shutter curtains- rather than patches. Geez...you said it didn't affect image quality. Is it any more bothersome than my picture?

I'm no expert on LTMs, but my brief experience with pricing them says that unless you got SEVERAL lenses with that body, you paid too much- even moreso if the shutters are leaky.

Please understand this is just my 2 cents worth. Consult real experts before getting too bent out of shape.

The spot in the middle of your picture is shutter capping, the trailing curtain caught up with the leading one for a bit. The stripe-ness there is because the roughness of the edge of the curtain becomes significant when the slot gets very narrow. (That's why there's no 1/2000 or 1/4000 shutter speed.)

Gee - I dunno' about the capping. I see the pinhole - but I'm not seeing anything that resembles capping - and I've seen more than a couple instances of it in my 46+ years fooling around with FP shutters.

looks a lot like that picture, just much worse. Looking around at similar cameras shows I got a pretty good price, about the average in the UK (although, I might be wrong). Seems like I'm going to get myself a curtain replacement/CLA for free now anyway, cos I'm still covered by the guarantee, so not so bad really. Plus the leaks only seem to have fallen on pics that sucked anyway, and on the few good ones it fell on, it could be photoshopped out :)
