ok I have forgoten basic flash work. I have a GSN and a vivitar 2800. I get the basics of set ASA on the flash select the distance and it gives you the f stop. But as the GSN is app priority how do you set sync speed? with the yellow Lighting bolt? I have read the Yashica guy manual but it did't realy help. Also you can use the flash in auto for fill flash? Thanks John

Fill flash? HAHAHAHAHA!
You set the ring on the flash position (1/30th fixed shutter). Then read your distance and set the aperture.
I prefer using 100 asa film if I'm flashing with my professional GSN, because if you use faster film, you won't be able to get a smaller hole than F16.

ok thanks Frank. what ya mean no fill flash
quote from yashica guy
"FLASH EXPOSURE
To stop movement in dim light, use flash.
The Electro G's require that the camera battery be installed to trigger flash
exposures. Mount a Strobe Flash Gun in the Accessory Shoe and connect the
synchro cord to the Flash Sync. [PC] Terminal. The GSN / GTN and GL have both
a Hot Shoe and PC terminal. Flashbulbs can be used when the indicator on the
lens is set at the lightening bolt symbol. Some models have an M & X selector. X is
for Strobe [Electronic Flash]. All these models in the G group will synch Strobe in
the AUTO setting at all but the highest shutter speeds for outdoor fill light."
is this the way they work? Come on I want all the modren systems in a classic camera I got for the price of dinner at MacDonalds

Joe (Yash-guy), tried to explain to me another way, but for the life of me I couldn't understand it. So I just flash the way I have always done it with any non-TTL flash sync camera; and that means all my cameras except the wife's G2.
