GSN Light seal question

I picked up two GSN's to curb my leica lust for a few....days and of course the light seals in them were shot to hell. After cleaning them out except the foam stuff next to the hinge I decided to run a quick cheap roll through to see what would happen. To my surprise there were no light leaks at all, no dark edges or anything of that sort. Im wondering if there is anyone out there that shoots their GSN's without fixing the light seals, I have the matieral here to do it with but am wondering if it is at all nessesary to spend the time on it.

Since the GSN is a very easy example to replace the light seals on I would go ahead and do it.
The last one I did took ander an hour and I was watching TV at the same time!

I have no light seals in my GSN and all is good. And that includes shooting in the sun.

But if you have seals, might as well put them in - it makes the door less loose in its sitting.

Yeah that loose door makes me wonder sometimes, it just doesnt make me very confident in the side seal when it moves so much when I press against it.

See my post on GSN light leaks. I found mine leaked at the hinge and left streaks on the film across the center. This would be the previously shot frame.

I would replace the seals if possible. I hate to ruin a good photo because I had a light leak. It's such a simple thing to do! 😎

I agree with the rest. Besides, you already did the hard part--cleaning up the old seals🙂
