I picked up a parts GSN to play with and while the body and lens are very nice, it of course was DOA upon arrival. After resoldering the white lead to the battery chamber spring, the yellow slow speed light comes on; so now I have power! However, although the shutter opens and closes at the default speed of 1/500 without the battery, when a battery is inserted the shutter opens but stays open until I advance the film. Is this an electrical or mechanical problem? It looks as though someone has replaced the POD which is presently white plastic and it looks rather thick. Could this be messing up the length of travel for the shutter contact rods? I've been refurbishing these Yashicas for several years now but have not run into this problem previously. Been shooting them since 1970, while living in Okinawa.
