Hello all, trying out GSN (to be fixed), it looks like a keeper. RF window glass needs to be replaced, rotten POD and screaming for film.
Closing shutter after longer exposures (hm...longer than second...couple of seconds), I hear squeaky sound. Don't hear it on short speeds. This GSN has got some smash on lens barrel, but all rings on barrel rotate and associated functions run fine so I judge it's not critical, I guess that maybe there's some shortage or vice versa as sqeaking resembles sound releted to electrical part, not mechanical.

Has anobody dealt with something similar ?

check out Matt Denton's site for repair info and also the Yashica Guy has some good material for repairs. Sounds like quite a project tho. Good luck.

thanks, I've come across Matt's and Yashica Guy's excellent pages. I have pristine Electro 35G, just wanted GSN for higher ISO and here in EU they aren't very costly though not so widely accessible like in US, good ones fetch a coin. And some work on oldtimers is what makes them better yet :)
What I call beater is S2 I have disassembled (very rare in EU compared to Yashica Electro) - broken part in lens barrel, though shipping costs and customs charges importing from US can be high enough not to throw it away and grab another one. And tinkering works better than sedative medicines, it's kind of meditation :)

sample of clean-looking GSN, OK, it's a empty period with a few offers and those who "need to buy" are going high - item. no 200186400093 or just click http://cgi.ebay.de/Yashica-Electro-...ryZ27812QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
