GSW 690 and diopters

I've acquired a GSW690 camera - now christened "Mr Big"!

The screw-in eyepiece has a metal rim, which will scratch my glasses, but I found that the eyepiece on my GA645 is the same size, and has a rubber rim, so I've emailed Fujifilm Australia to see if they can supply one.

I've also read that the Nikon diopters will fit, and might look in to that 😀 - I'd need a -3. Does anyknow if the Nikon eyepieces have a rubber rim?

I'm looking forward to contributing some pics to the 6x9 thread. 🙂

I read somewhere that the Nikon optical finders are -1 by default. The standard eyepieces are +1 in order to make it 0. I'm not sure about the Fuji's, but you may need a Nikon diopter marked -4 to perform the same as a -3 on the Fuji. There are lots of them on ebay though, both with rubber and without.

I don't think there have been any cameras made by Canon or Nikon (probably any manufacturer) with a 0 diopter rating out of the box. These cameras tend to have a viewfinder deliberately set for -1 diopter as most people are slightly short sighted. They do not come with a +1 diopter to make them zero as this would defeat the whole purpose of designing them to be a -1 diopter in the first place. They come with a clear glass eyepiece with no correction value.

The Nikon diopter eyepiece I use has a rubber rim. I don't recall if I bought a +1 to make it zero though 😕

unfortunately it appears to not have the rubber ring on it, perhaps you could get the rubber cup?

Hi, and thanks to each of you for your suggestions.

Noah - if the -3 diopter works for me I'll be able to focus without my glasses, so I wouldn't need to worrk about scratches! 🙂
