And then there were 15...

My friend Lynn told me about this forum. I've been lurking for the last couple of days as I anxiously watch for the postman to bring a camera my dad has sent me.

Welcome Rachel.. nice photoblog. What camera are you getting from your dad?

Welcome to the forum Rachel! Its good to have another girl on board!

I'm pretty much 95% a film camera user - SLR's, polaroids, Lomo - and am really looking forward to getting into Rangefinders. And I'm hoping that I'll learn a lot here.

What lens(es) are you planning to get for it?

I'm not sure. I know that he sent along two.

On a rather frustrating note: I got a letter today from customs. They're holding the camera, stating that the camera is new and that I need to cough up the invoices. My dad insured the camera for $3000 and I think that has raised some alarm bells. Off to the airport I go, where I'm sure they'll threaten to send it back and I'll be bullied into paying tax.

Looks like that makes me number 16! That is if I ever get my hands on a working rangefinder - otherwise back to SLR and MF again! :bang:

..welcome rachel and other new femme fotogs...rachel, i was introduced to anais nin by a woman i was dating in the '80's and am a huge fan of hers...i am re-reading volume 1 of her diaries now...just found www.anaisnin.com...neat site.

... i recommend her on so many levels for everyone ("adults")...she spoke to themes/ideas/concerns/etc that touch the lives of women and men equally.

...one particular passage has stayed with me over the years and helped me process the "break-up" stage that relationships go through sometimes...forgive my very loose paraphrasing /misquoting here, it dealt with her going through the end of a relationship, here goes : "i would take off the coat of the old love ( like it was an actual garment) and tenderly place it on a hanger and put it away in the closet of my mind"...i imagine alot of us have bittersweet memories like that that we may have "stored away" like that...thanks for indulging me here...

hasta la vista, adieu, dasvidanya,,fino al prossimo tempo, auf wiedersehen, and later y’all
kenneth

When first joining this site not that long ago, ratio male/female never entered my mind, but reading and learning from everyone, it became clear to me it wasn't balanced by a long shot.
In my mind I guessed that it might be 100 to 1.
I'm interested to see what it actually is when this poll continues over the long run.
(Ladies - invite more of your friends, I for one always learn from new perspectives)
(always joke - that I can't help but learn, I know so little now)
smile.
