Thinking back on it years ago I bought my button rewind M2 body from a lesbian and a 203mm f/7.7 Ektar lens from another.

A few weeks back we had our annual Gay Pride weekend here in Bisbee, and 400+ gays and lesbians descended on this quiet little mountain town. A great time was had by all!

What happened to this thread? It just stops here? Yet it appeared as a current thread.

It might be the case that the thread gets bumped to the top when someone votes.

correct, it goes to the head of the line when someone votes.
and every few weeks or months, someone comes along and votes IN ALL THE POLLS...

Vote for guy... This thread is interesting... Reading it, I had the same dream several times... How wonderful it would be a thread containing images from RFF ladies only... If I were a girl, I'd start it, but I can't do it: I prefer to wait until it comes without any masculine presence at all... And if some of you girls like self portraits too, that beautiful, emotive thread would be like discovering a secret island of amazons...

Although we're in the minority here (5-6% ever since I joined) some of us do have galleries, photoblogs, and such. Seek and you shall find.

Dee, I think the problem might be more along the lines that nobody here much cares if you're male or female, something else, straight or gay.

personally, i like others!
personally, i like others!
can i recruit you, please, to put yourself in the gal category? 75 would look do much better than 74.
the lop-sidedness is ridiculous! there are underdogs and there are underdogs...

I, too, notice that nearly none of my female friends have interests specifically in RF cameras however I can think of one that owns an M6 (Bill Frisell's daughter) and another that wishes she had an M.
I let her borrow mine from time to time.
By far the majority are DSLR (or P&S) users. Very few are into film and those who are tend to be pretty hardcore, ie. they self-develop, do wet printing and the whole bit. Everyone else seems happy to chimp away and be able to upload their most recent snapshots on Facebook within a matter of hours (or in some cases, minutes).
I wonder how many female members have simply not seen the thread yet? There's got to be some margin of error here. Still, I reckon it wouldn't be enough to skew the results into the zone that we have seen at some of the other forums.

FWIW, I am to my knowledge one of the few RF users in this part of the world full stop (and I get out and about a *lot* -- heck I even walk to work with my camera, you just never know what you'll see, saw lots of squirrels yesterday, they were fantastic!) -- let alone being a female RF user!
What's even more unusual is the fact I live practically next to Brighton (known for its bohemian outlook and artsy vibes) and I don't recall anyone when I used to live there (lived there for 5 years) having an RF either!
On women and photography though, I'd say that it doesn't matter who you are, do your thing but there are certain subjects one gender isn't privvy to at one time and this exhibition by Heather Shuker:
http://jalbum.net/browse/user/album/210692/;jsessionid=5K5B9TRkLeegyv8UpGrv.11
Is one such example.
Largely the things I tend to follow are very urban related if it's stuff I am interested in, and I don't think many men, let alone women would be up for trapsing around Milton Keynes for example and actually be interested in it, photographing it and returning over and over!
In the end, the bigger limitation on people will be what they feel embarassed about, e.g. "Hmmm should I take a photo of that motorway flyover or is everyone going to think I am a sad sack?!" I got to the "I don't give a ....!" stage a long time ago!

Interesting set ...
However it gives me kind of a creepy feeling.
We do have a reasonable expectation of some privacy in there!
This one is (LOL) about as close as I would ever take.

I'm also sure that a quite similar expose' could be done in a nightclub mens' room!
Edit: Why the {f-bomb} doesn't an inline image work here?

However it gives me kind of a creepy feeling. As liberal as I am WRT the right to photograph in public, I would most definitely be rather p*ssed if I found out that somebody was shooting candid in a public restroom!

i have to agree here... i tend to turn my camera off (if i even actually take it in) in the loo. i respect the privacy of the place. but that's me and i'm not going to get down on anyone for being able to step over that line. some of the shots are great! (though it definitely could use a good editing.)
as a female, i definitely get away with shooting other females much easier than a male ever could. i am not noticed or they don't really care and i take advantage of that apathy... even men are more prone to preen if front of me...
btw -- whoever bumped us up to 75, thank you!!!
makes me proud!

Payasam (Mukul Dube) sent me one of his Leica mugs last week. Being a cheapskate I've been taking advantage of the Starbucks discount for supplying your own cup. So far it seems that ONLY females have recognized the Leica name.

I was standing on a corner in downtown Tucson a couple of years ago when a 30ish woman in business attire paused, noticed my camera (we were both waiting for a signal change), and said, "Nice IIIf you've got there," and walked off before I could respond.
