I've wanted one of the Fuji beasts for years. I first saw and handled one back in the late 1970s, a G670 I assume. It made my (then) C330 look like a house brick!

Hoo, boy - now I *have* to either figure out how to scan MF negs inhouse or set up my enlarger again. I have Hassy negs starting to pile up, and now this thing.

Fun incoming!

Have you been working out your biceps lately?:)

I saw one recently and was quite impressed. It made my Nikon S2 look like a cute little toy. Looking forward to seeing some images.

Mike, they are big but not all that heavy, especially compared to a Hasselblad with a lens, or an SL66 with lens, both of which I'd only hand hold if mounted on a hand bracket, thus adding more weight! the Fuji can indeed be handheld but I only shoot at 1/250th if I do otherwise it's sharpness is easily compromised.

Ken, enjoy the camera. I've had a GW690III for years and have often thought of getting a 670 some day (did you know in Japan Fuji sold a GW680?). When you finally scan the images please post some on The Fuji Rangefinder Pages, link below....

Ken, the Fuji GW670 is a lot lighter than your old C330, but it does take up a bit a space. A Leica M3 is tiny compared to the big Fuji, but almost the same weight if the Leica has some heavy glass fitted.

Speaking of the GW680 III, KEH has one in excellent condition for $695 and one ugly sample for $575. I opted for one of their ugly GW690 III's and to tell you the truth it ain't in that bad of shape, but it does have 337 on its counter. Back to the GW680, it's 4/3rd's aspect ratio is a nice fit for printing full frame with only a bit of cropping.

A flat bed scanner like the $100 Canon 8400 is more than sufficient at 1200 dpi, if you print small. Epson has a V500 for double the price, but it's a newer design.

I'm not worried about weight - I used to carry a *pair* of Nikon F2s with MD2 motors 24/7, and I go for walks with my Hassy 500C/M!

I am, however, worried that people are going to ask me where the rest of the circus went.

(Anyone remember the movie "Top Secret!"? Specifically the telephone scene?)

That will definitely happen. Every time I used the BIG FUJI for people shots the looks on their face was to say the least - priceless.

By the way, the camera made it to the North Austin at 4:59 PM - It is on its way to Illinois.

That's about the size of it! You should get a plastic flower that squirts water, on a flexible stalk, to attach to the hotshoe. :)
