I just bought a gw690 and it seems fine. The counter has 580 (5800) on it. At what point do they recommend servicing? I've heard evreything from 1000 to 5000 and, at a very good NYC repair place, not until 7000 or 10000. It's an abstract question. The camera works fine and I think when serviced they replace the shutter, so it's pricey maintenance. Stiil, I'd like some idea. (Camera was previously used primarily inside.)

I was just looking at an ebay advert for one of these. The text of the description was apparently lifted from another source - I don't know where. But it said the original intention was for a service at 5,000 exposures, but that Fuji was recommending 10,000. It might be worth checking with Fuji's service department to see what their current recommendation is.

Oh, by the way - welcome to the forum! I completely missed that this is your first post! There's a few owners of these amongst the members here and hopefully someone will be along soon who knows these cameras, with some proper advice!

Thanks for the welcome and info. Fuji no longer makes the cameras, thoguh I did try them. They gave me a number to call for info but no one got back to me.ChrisN said:Oh, by the way - welcome to the forum! I completely missed that this is your first post! Jerry,
I recently bought a GW 690III with 23 (230) on the counter. Encouraged by the fine pics this camera could deliver I also bought a fairly worn GSW 690 II (the wide angle version). This camera was actually not working. I fixed a few problems myself but it turned out that the camera had a misaligned shutter after some bad treatment by a former owner. This was a job for a pro repiarman, of course.
I encountered the same problem as you have. Fuji does not provide any service for this camera anymore. I went to a well renowned Leica repairman (it´s a rangefinder, after all) who fixed the problem (at a price
). Whan I collected the camera the repairman said that it is a nice camerato work with and that it in some ways reminded him of repairing Leicas. So, my advice is that you find a good Leica repirshop and let them service your camera.
Regards,
Fredrik

I've just had a look in my GW690 III instruction manual and there it says that the user should send it for a service after 5,000 but the camera won't lock until 10,000.
