I have to imagine that they're working on a new body / full frame sensor -- almost everyone who has used the GXR and M module has made remarks about these two things.
It seems we all want an M9, without the high price tag.

Here's hoping you're right, Kevin.
Again, sorry for hijacking this thread. Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Hijack the thread all you want. Right now there's no forum for people using the GXR as anything other than an M mount. Here's hoping you're right, Kevin.

I want to know if there will be any difference between this being a "Ricoh lens" as opposed to a "GR lens".

It's still on Adorama's website but listed as back-ordered. B&H probably removed it because of availability in which case you may be right.Sorry for hijacking this thread but I just noticed that B&H Photo Video no longer lists the A12 M-mount module. Is that a hint that Ricoh is about to replace it with a 16MP unit?

There usually is a difference: Better quality glass, faster apertures. At least that's what I understand. There's only two "GR" modules for the GXR system so far, the A12 28mm f/2.5 and the A12 50mm f/2.5 Macro. Ricoh doesn't throw that GR lens label around lightly.

Next to Olympus, Ricoh is a company that I have high hopes for innovative cameras.
The OM-D looks interesting.
Is that 24-85mm equivalent to film frame?
Yes. And it does not have an AA filter.
I join the chorus that asks when will the built-in EVF body be offered? after that, a full frame module.
The FF unit is doubtful, but many of us would like an updated body with built-in EVF (though appreciate the swiveling ability of the current one). I don't want to have to think about it and I want it to switch on the fly like many other built-in EVFs.
BTW Here's the Mount unit on B&H.

This, I didn't realize. Maybe I should look into this new module. Hrm.....

Popflash has the zoom unit listed at $599. They are not sure when they will get them in, though Alex told me that Ricoh is usually stocked about a month afterwards. Where does it say there is no AA filter?

The FF unit is doubtful,
I would've thought Ricoh would make it a priority. I'm sure leica M lens users would buy the GXR as a primary camera or back-up to an M9. They wouldn't be able to produce them fast enough. Surely, large sensors are becoming more available soon? I'm interested to hear why you feel FF is unlikely.

The guy running Ricohforum.com posted that a contact person at Ricoh confirmed that, and on some Japanese blog it was said so, too.
I doubt anyone will ever produce 135 format digital anymore, except Nikon, Canon and Leica for their top of the line bodies.

I would prefer an OVF to an EVF built into a new body. Maybe they could do both like that Fuji whatever it is camera.

Well, I'm a sucker for anything for my GXR's except the M module.
While I am not a zoomie lover, this lens has me excited. For event work it will hit the spot perfectly.
I see using a wrist strap on the left side, holding the barrel left handed...Ala the Brian Mosley hold and working very well.
There the perfect Leica FOV and there's plenty of mp horse power.
I'll get it and it may even find its way to the street....

btw Dallard, great idea starting another thread.
Maybe at some point we GXR users will get a forum listing not dependent on the M module.

As for the zoom, I'm torn. I love the other APS modules but I love the Ricoh for its small size and this really negates that.

Thanks Adanac for the B&H update. Oddly, when I first posted, it wasn't listed. Shortly thereafter it was back up as out of stock and now it's both there and in stock. If it had been that way a couple of months ago I would have gladly jumped on it. But now I'm confusedly debating about it versus the soon to be released Fuji and Oly offerings. Guess I'm hijacking this thread once again but I would appreciate reading anyone's thoughts about these options (with the knowledge that I already have a fair bit of Leica glass to use with whichever configuration seems best).
Thanks,
Randy
