went out yesterday but couldn't take off the 35/2 so the 100 just sat.

Good Mornin' back at ya, Joe! I hope you have a good shoot today. I just got in from an early morning walk/shoot. Had a nice cuppa at Starbucks and will be gardening for the rest of the day. Beautiful day in S Ontario today.

Morning to all, just finished my first cup as well so it's off to church and back home to fix a plumbing leak :( , still a nice day here as well! Good shooting to everyone who gets the opportunity today!

Good morning to all, as well. Off to brew the first batch...after another big stretch and yawn. It may be a picture day here, maybe not. Good light to you all and a pleasant Sunday.

Sorry to hear about the headache, that's the worst! I woke up with one yesterday, but it went away with liberal application of Advil and coffee. Good thing, too, since my wife and I had to drive to Black Creek, NC and shoot that wedding. 9 rolls of Kodak 400NC later, we are now waiting on the results from the lab so I can start scanning. I am on pins and needles, my test rolls from the rehersal did not come out like I wanted - I used a Vivitar 285HV flash and my flashmeter to measure precisely, but they still seemed underexposed. Not sure what's up with that. However, I also used el cheapo Walmart Polaroid brand film for the wedding rehersal, I just wanted to set up my shots and make sure I had them blocked out, right lenses, etc. So it is not a big problem that the Polaroid 35-mm film looks ugly, just worries me about how the 400NC will come out.

This morning, my wife and I went to do a portrait shoot for a 22-month old toddler - her mom liked my work and asked for a formal 'garden shoot' in grandma's flower-filled backyard. The shoot went well, 2 rolls of Kodak 160NC and 400NC, fill flash, and we'll see how THEY come out.

I may go out and scout locations for flower shots later - they're blooming like crazy here. But I also have to help with laundry and do some sweeping up here at the house - all wood floors with two cats and two dogs and there is hair ever whar.

And that's MY morning!

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

8:41 AM here. Overcast. Could be a good day for color downtown. Maybe time to test that roll of Fujicolor Super G plus 800.

I just have to "jazz" the readers of this thread. I'm making a good stiff espresso; double long shot... that will kick start my lazy derriere. Then I'm dragging my poor wife out to watch me play at photographing or my attempt at it. Quality time!

To GeneW, the QEW was so jammed I took the Lakeshore. Stopped at the Second Cup for a 2xl espresso yesterday. Driving over 'your' bridge on the way back to Toronto made me think of your winter shots of the harbour.

cheers, Jan

Ah yes, quality time on the QEW ... Did you hit the Second Cup in Port Credit? I hang out there too, but the Starbucks by the bridge is more conveniently located.

The cormorants have returned to the harbour and I got a good tele shot of one on a snag in the river this morning. Digital though -- equiv of 430mm tele ... it was too far away for my Ultron :D

Gene,

I was coming from the west so I hit the 2nd Cup first. I put my flashers on, ran in got a coffee from a girl on crutches! and back out the door. The Starbucks has a nicer "view" but I was running on empty.

The weather here in CT is perfect. 70F, dry and very light breeze. Dead perfect blue sky. Shot this morning inside with an M2 and a 50 'cron. Outside later with a Lens Baby on an EOS 1n RS. Now I have to start to bring the pool back to life after a dorment winter. Process tomorrow night while the wife is at school. Much coffee already. Think I'll make another pot.

Bill,

Often times weddings are in big dark churches with high dark ceilings. You do not get the added bounce of light reflecting off of white ceiling that are 8' high and white walls like in a home envirnoment. This lack of secondary light bouncing off of light colored surfaces can effectively make your photos look 1 stop under exposed. I would almost bet that the faces look ok, but there is little detail in the black Tux's. Think of light as a bunch of "super balls" that hit a wall and bounce back then hit another wall and bounce and then hit the ceiling and bounce. Light moves pretty quick, (299,792,458 meters per second or so if I remember correctly) and can bounce off of several surfaces in the 1/60 sec. of time it takes for your shutter to open and close.

Another CT guy. Yes a great day. I already raked the front yard and now have to get ready to take the boy to a park or something. I want to get him out to a minor league baseball game, but he isn't that into it today. Maybe he will be when he is 6.

Kind of hazy here in upstate NY, I've just had my second cup and haven't quite decided what the rest of the day is going to be used for.
I friend of mine owns a commercial greenhouse/flower business and he has offered to let me come shoot there so I may see if he's there today. Not sure just what plants he's got right now but generally they are seperated by color so I've been thinking f2 and close. I guess its a bit like shooting animals at the zoo but I aint trying to be Moose Petersen here, I just want some pretty pictures for my desktop.
I'd really like to shoot some figure studies(OK-nudes) in this greenhouse but that's probably not gonna happen this spring. The young woman I know that would've been willing and trusted me enough to let me take pictures of her has moved to the US Virgin Islands--she couldn't take any more winters--any one else so far can only think of "internet porn" when the subject of naked pictures arises:(
Maybe I should stop using my trench coat as my photographers vest?
Hopefully by next year.
I also need to try to get a first draft of the essay for the contest but I'll likely wait til later tonight.
bmattock: before my late, lamented dog passed, I discovered that while she hated the sound of the vacum she would sit patiently while I ran the wand over her--I vacumed most of what Cap would've shed. Don't try this with a stand up machine, though. :D the cats you'd probably have to duct tape down to get them to hold still for that! But then the tape would take the place of the vacum--NOT reccomended!

Rob,
My Grandfather use to run the vacuum over his dog Skippy -- he loved it!!! I wish we could do it with the cats; perhaps that will be my project today.

Perfect here in Boston too. Got my Domke F-2 bag filled & ready for a trip this morning and I'm walking over to my orchestra project at Boston University this afternoon. I'm about a 1/2 hour's walk from the campus so I'm looking forward to a relaxing stroll... :)

No such luck. Working this weekend, as the beautiful CT weather is passing me by. Well actually, I did take some (digital) photos this morning, but they were of nasty stuff inside the human body - nothing you'd want to see.

Taking the kids fishing tomorrow. The weather looks promising. Maybe I can make up for lost time.

Got up and had my coffee then was off to church. It was a good day to have the Kiev 5 along loaded with Fuji Supermarket 400 as there was a Russian vocal ensamble, Lyra, singing the service today. Beautiful and quite mysterious as I don't speak any Russian outside of camera words... :D Hopefully some of the shots will be good.

Already good evening here ! :) Monday is nearer :(

Been on family reunion today, home cinema session after it, the first movie, The Machinist, I really recommend it, you'll enjoy even more if you're a bit paranoid like me...

Some portraits and tests with the 50/1.2 as well.

You guys are lucky - I was at the university for 9 hrs. today (yes, we do have classes on Sunday, for those poor guys who still don't have enough after a week of work); tried to design a questionnaire in that statistics class - which is really strenous when you do it jointly in a group of twelve or fifteen people...
Had the 'Pass the Camera'-Canonet in my bag, but was much too stressed out to look for shots after I got out - there's no way I can fill my roll within the 3-days-limit with my current work- and study-load, hope that's OK with everybody else. Don't have to work tomorrow (but get a load of books from the library), so if the weather is nice, I'll be out shooting.#
