Had my new R3M <24 hrs., shutter already got stuck

Nope... I was going to take the last four frames around my new house, I wanted to get a slower film in, and wanted to get pictures of the house anyway...

Are you saying you fired blank shots to rewind the film? What would you do that for?

Hi - my 2nd-hand R3m locked up on me - the grey meter-target thing was hung up - along with the shutter, advance, etc. I saw a film clip on Utube or something - some stoont in a dorm did a demo w/his R2. WHAT I DID:
1-remove lens; 2-with camera facing you, depress the shutter-button & HOLD; 3-slowly, counting out loud, move the shutter-speed dial from the top speed (2000) on down, stopping at each speed. After a few notches it went Click & the gray-bar reappeared.

My personal urban myth: I confused the clockwork by "cheating" when loading-advanced the film <full-frame to "save a shot" - then closed the door & continued advancing. since then, I follow the manual: advance full-frame, DISCHARGE the shutter, then closed the door. All the little gears start at "0" on square-one. saved myself $250+shipping.

How does that save you a shot?

If you want to save film, load it using the old photojournalist's trick: don't pull the film from the canister, don't put the canister in the camera. Take the film as it is, put it on the takeup spool, advance it a little bit until it's solidly on the spool, THEN pull back the canister so that you can put it in the canister, close the back, advance two frames.
