I was wondering if anyone has a good alternative to the Nikon vintage camera cases. Most cases I find on the big auction site are either completely worn out or torn, or come with a hefty price tag.

Luigi makes half cases for the Nikon RF, but they don't come cheap. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? If you are a Nikon RF user, do you use a half case at all ? Or any other means to carry the camera on a neck strap and provide some protection at the same time ?

Personally, I think there are a plethora of perfectly useable old half cases. At least, the bottom half. Sometimes I use the 2000-series half case but usually my camera comes with me in a bag.

Zhou (ebay) used to make Nikon RF cases, but not for a while. Perhaps if you send him a camera to work off of, he would make you one. I have used his cases before on Leicas and they are perfectly fine for the price.

FYI, Luigi's cases designed for the early Leica M3 (with the "Buddha ears" strap eyelets) fit the Nikon RFs perfectly.

If you absolutely want to use a camera wearing pyjamas, you might be able to get a used one from the big auction site with patience and persistence.

Alternatively, you can also contact the gentleman behind Patagonean cases and straps. His half and full cases are superb. I am sure he can make cases for Nikon RFs, if he hadn't done it yet.

Seems like you'd need to order one from China if you want a new one.

I'd offer to make you one for shipping costs, I have the leatherworking tools and leather but I don't have anything to copy the pattern from though (I could use the practice)

Realistically it might be a little rough though, you're probably better off ordering one from China.

I've purchased numerous items on Etsy before. Everyone I've dealt with was reputable. On the other hand, it's a dangerous place for for camera gas sufferers. :)
