Just curious what do you prefer? Half cases are beautiful and elegant but have to be removed for film changing and tripod work. Side grips are very practical but can't be used with most half cases.
I use both, mostly the grip, but put the Luigi case when I want to be complimented on my beautiful camera

I voted for half case but I really like the grips, too. So I guess I should have voted for both.

I use a Thumbs Up and Luigi Halfcase. I have no complaints, but did have an inclination to pick up a Leica grip a while back. I kept losing auctions on eBay, though, so I didn't get one and have since lost interest.

I'd prefer a side grip. I want the best grip possible on the camera. In fact I'm looking for one for a Canon P.

I don't use either.....but a Tom A grip is something that I would like to try at some point, but I have absolutely no interest in cases for my cameras, they would just slow me down and get in the way.......that said, I know everybody is different.....just my 2 cents....

I have a rip on my M8, because that is what was on it when I bought it used. I don't really like it. It is not that comfortable, and ugly as sin. Too big, bad design.
I have been keeping an eye out for a standard base, and might then add a thumbie.

None. Why screw up a good design?

In my case, most often it is the half case, less often it is the motor winder with grip, less often it is the grip and least often it is the plain camera. It will depend on the body, lens and if I am travelling or not.

Nice one Joe. I take it this the photoequip grip I found online. Looks good. I'd order one if I thought I wouldn't get stung by UK Customs again. I had to pay extra on the Canon P.

I have both. I used the grips a lot when I first got them; somewhat less now. I like the feel of the Luigi case. Although they will fit any of my film Leicas, I tend to use them on my M2 and MP. I guess those are the two I want most to protect! Another reason to use it on the MP is that the factory cover it came with is a bit slippery! The grip (I use the Leica grip) is helpful with heavy lenses. Apart from that, there is not much point.

Neither these days.
I used to use the Leica grip with my M6 TTL, but not with my M2.
Since selling my M6 TTL I've tried the grip on my MP, but just don't feel comfortable with it.
I only ever used half cases with my Barnacks, and I sold my last one of those three years ago.

Tried both. Hated both. No strap either. Just bare metal.

Voted for both, because I need also a better grip. Some half cases have an integrated one.

Interesting responses!
One advantage that I really like in the grips, and that no one mentioned, is the centered tripod mount. I know not many RF guys like tripods but I do tripod work quite often, and without the grip, it gets a bit awkward.

Voted both, but should have voted "None and both and with trick", because for the M9 I have a Mr. Zhou half case with integrated grip and for the Zeiss ZM I have none.
I thought about buying a JNK half case for the ZM, but besides that the price is too high, I think, I like it as it is. It's a light camera, and it does not need the extra grip. I'm using straps, though. All of my cameras have their own marked shoulder strap, which can be changed to a short hand strap in a second.
