Half Case

I was wondering if anyone knew of any nice half-cases that would fit a zorki 4. Ive tried using a cut/trimmed FSU case but it doesnt quite fit the way i want. Obviously my Zorki 4K doesnt have strap lugs, and i was hoping i could find a half case for my zorki that would fit fairly snug and not add that much bulk to the case.

Posted this picture of a DIY halfcase some time back. Its made of leather and has a frame of sheet metal. The strap lugs and buckles are made from soda can tabs. Fits the Zorki or FED cameras nicely:

Hasn't so far. Thought of that too, and could have improved the design by putting a small, restrictive strap or tab at the lower front part. Camera was re-skinned with goat leather.

Early 4s had strap lugs, they disappeared later. I believe it's not to do with export/home model, just age. There were various combinations of strap lugs or not, printed or etched speed-dials and printed or etched "Zorki" logo. The move from strap lugs and all-etched to no strap-lugs and all-printed happened haphazardly, I believe.

I have a couple of strap lugs from a dead camera that I want to fit on my Zorki 1.

The obvious questions:

- has anyone done this before?

- what's the best position for the lugs?
- at the side? (as on the Leica equivalent?)
- a bit to the front? (better balans for lens weight?)

- the lugs are fixed by a simple screw with bolt on the inside... is there room enough on the inside of the Zorki? I'll have to take a good look which parts may be in the way when opening the camera...

Maybe I can consider one lug only (for wrist strap) or two at the same side, if parts are in the way on the other side... (inspired by Spyderans advise)

...or 4 of them, just like the Pentax LX 😎
