hammertone painting?

does anybody has experience in painting a camera?

ok, sounds strange, but i found this:

and i would like to try this first with my Revue 400SE...

It can be done. Having someone (like Shintaro) do it can be quite expensive.

I think hammertone gray looks great. I'm not sure I'd do it to a camera unless the original finish was objectionable in some way.

You can get Hammertone spray paint at your local hardware store, I thought of doing the same thing once.

I don't know if it would hold up that well. Chrome is notorious for things not sticking to it.

I suspect that to do it right, the chrome would have to be chemically stripped, then the body would have to be primered and then painted. Perhaps baked afterwards? I don't know that much about paint, but I suspect that anything spray-painted on would come off rather quickly.

i thought the same, so i try to repaint my 400SE which is blackpainted.
i will abrade the surface and spray it.

BTW--Shintaro got a VERY bad rap recently on the LUG forum. Pretty sad story.
