Been making some nice handmade .0375 wide leather straps, simple with whipped thread, like the Gordy`s and using beeswax coated thread .Darkened with some Lexol leather treatment.Cheap to make and classic looking.

Will get some pic`s on the way making one now with stainless steel rings, and a darker shade of brown. Will make black on next and will post pic`s.I have not figured a decent price for the decent rangefiner users yet.BB

Been doing the same myself for awhile. I always knew that spool of waxed sailmakers thread left over from 20 years ago would come in handy someday. It is a good and relaxing hobby to take up.

Great to hear, its really nice to work with,it glides throught ,I punch the leather first and then go from there,no sail palm needed.

I started making my own straps from saddle/whip leather. Some are my own designs😎 and others are copies. Now, I can make a $70 strap for less than $5😀.

Dimensions: 700 - 900mm x 12mm x 2 - 3mm

The hardest part was finding 15mm split rings.

Waxed Irish linen cord/heavy thread is available on eBay at good prices. It's often used for making bow strings, leather work etc, as it is very strong.

Does anyone here know where can bridle leather be had online these days?
